After my success with my first Julie G’s Frosted Gumdrop nail art, I wanted to try again with the second color I picked up: Sugar Rush. My original plan was to try strawberry art, but the color is more of a clementine orange, so I went for oranges!
I was inspired by Nail Nerd’s Orange post both because I’ve never done a half-moon mani before, and because I am dedicated to stamping on my right hand currently (I want to try so many images!!). So I picked up BM-308, and tried to put half-moons using the small orange stamp on most of my fingers, covering my accent nail and thumb with the larger oranges pattern.
I actually like how it turned out, but really, that has more to do with the fact that Sugar Rush is BEAUTIFUL. I snapped a few shots while it was drying, in an attempt to capture the depth of color and glitter. After two days, I tried topcoating one nail, to get depth of glitter back!
On my accent nail, I tried dabbing on a few colored glitters from the scented OPI rainbow line (red, orange, and yellow) to vary it up a bit before stamping. I REALLY like how it came out, but it’s subtle.
Ok, so I need more stamping work. I re-did my pinky and its STILL wonky and wrongly placed (I eventually gave up) but I’m happy with all the other nails. I couldn’t stop playing with the texture AGAIN!
Colors:
- Orange textured: Julie G – Sugar Rush
- White: Sinful Colors – Snow me White
- Other: Sephora by OPI (secented) – Lemon, Orange, Watermellon (on accent nail)
- Stamping: BM – 308
I want to try something with flames in this polish. Its got it all…red/orange with gold glitter that shifts in the light and looks like its jumping off the nail. Just wow.

Question: I just did a three-part set using the oranges in the Frosted Gumdrops collection. Do you guys want to see them all in a row, or interspersed with more traditional nail art?

I am the first to say that I don’t “get” the textured nail polish craze, but I really like how it looks here, especially the way you did it with the stamping and glitter.
(Must…not…give…in…must…stay…shiny…;-) )
I didn’t get it either…but I tried one. And now I own a whole set. They are surprisingly fun to play with and they last FOREVER on the nail! I don’t think I’ll buy any more…but I’m glad I tried it!
Orange halfmoon? How cute is that?!?
hehe thankie
Great idea, luv it!
thanks!
