Unicorn Poop (fail)

I’m going to start randomly introducing bonus *fail* posts to my existing post-every-other-day schedule. I’m posting these awful failures so that no one repeats my heinous mistakes…or so I can get advice on how NOT to do them in the future!

I had such high hopes. I had been experimenting with polish colors and water marbles, and decided to save a few and attempt another ‘nail sticker’ transfer.

I started with the rainbow one. I know my base coat was too wet, and that there really wasn’t enough rainbow to go around…but by any degree, this is a catastrophic fail.

Its just plain ugly. My pinky looked so bad that I tried again, and it STILL didn’t work. I watermabled my thumb (the good old way…add polish to water and dip) using a slightly different color array, and it looks ok. This is coming off tomorrow. Poor unfortunate nails.

The moral: If colors don’t marble well, don’t bother saving them. And don’t attempt a transfer on wet nails.

  1. Lol! I’m not gonna lie. It makes me happy that even you have a fail once in a while. 🙂 I think the thumb wasn’t too bad. This is on my to try list.

    • I feel like it SHOULD have worked, and it DIDNT! If you get it to work, give me tips! And I have plenty of fails. I just tend not to post them cause I’m embarrassed :-p.

  2. Instead of using wet polish, I totally recommend nail foil glue. It’s really cheap, and much thinner, so it doesn’t risk going goopy (that’s the technical term) when you transfer the water marble onto it 🙂

  3. I LOVE them fails! I have them all the time and I post them on my blog too. I don’t even pretend to have any water marbling skills so I think you’re very brave to attempt it. And at least your thumb turned out pretty decent!

    • Yah, I’ve gotten ok at water marbles, I just can’t handle transfers! And they looked so darn pretty on the plastic…
