A while ago, I saw what appeared to be fishnet nail art. Red with black. I thought to myself “that is to risqué, I would never wear that!” I was wrong. I went to New York city for a weekend with some friends, and decided to really jazz up my nails. Not only that, but I wanted to impress them…so I had to grab glitter AND throw in some color change.
The star of this show is without a doubt Strawberry Shortcake. I have shown you this polish before, but I think this mani does it more justice. Strawberry Shortcake is a solar active polish by Ruby Wing, it goes from gold holographic glitter particles in a clear base to deep ruby red in the sunlight. I think this polish is meant to be worn as a topper, but I can’t bring myself to not have ALL THE GLITTER. So this is 4 coats. Of course, my base coat here is glue so this peeled off SO EASY.
I stamped over it with a pattern from BM 209 and added a black tip (both with Black on Black by Sinful Colors) before top coating. And just…woah. The gold version of this mani had me mesmerized the whole bus ride to NYC!
And the red version…wow. Unfortunately, it was cloudy most of the weekend. Enough UV light came in to change the whole mani to a pretty pink color, but I wanted to show you the full spectrum. Thus, I got out my UV light for curing gel polish and stuck my nails under for ~15 seconds.
I loved wearing this. I somehow felt both childish (wheee glitter) and sexy. And it was a lot of fun to watch the boys in the group figure out why my nails kept changing from gold to pink!
