Ballet blue is a difficult color, because it exists in time not space. It only occurs in the few moments between dusk and night, on a clear day, when the whole sky briefly lights up a vivid true blue. I used to see it through the curtain of my ballet studio when I was young.
Ballet blue always reminded me of late summers, peace, calm, dinners with family. The end of the day, beginning of the evening. And I only ever saw it through the gauzy white waving curtains at ballet. I think if I could create one nail polish color, I might try to make a true ballet blue. This is not ballet blue…its a bit too dark and dusty. It doesn’t have enough shimmer. (I can think of exactly 3 polishes that I wished existed that I can’t find, but the first one is ballet blue).
The prompt for today was “inspired by a color” and I just could not get ballet blue out of my head. I had to try. There are only three colors used here, Shocking Seas by Maybelline, Allure by Revlon, and Black on Black by Sinful Colors.
I put together a step-by-step of how I made the curtains for this mani if you guys want me to post it! I don’t know why I keep making tutorials that I don’t post. But I do have it.
Enjoy! And make sure to check out what other color inspirations where discovered today. Even if none are quite as graceful as ballet blue :-p
