Creative musings in bright colors

Frivolous Flowers

I wanted to play around with one of my solar-activated nail polishes, but I didn’t want to spend a lot of time on a manicure. So I grabbed my polish, a glitter topper (why not?) and some flower stickers from the Born Pretty Store. The result was not particularly pretty :-/

Honestly, this looks like something 8-year-old me would have loved. Glitter, flowers, colors, stickers…but 26-year-old-me cringes. Ooops! I like the stickers but not with everything else.

Maybe if I just hadn’t used the glitter on top of my peach polish, or if I had picked a less childish base color…who knows. The color-changing base is Peony by Ruby Wing and the glitter on top is Ski Slope Sweetie by OPI.

The stickers can be found at the Born Pretty Store for $4.73. Don’t forget to use my 10% off code if you order (LY5X31)! The stickers stick out a bit, but they are ridiculously easy to use and quite pretty.

  1. Don’t you like the design you created when the polish turns red? Maybe if you did more clear coats on top you would like the effect better. (Personally, I can’t stand yellowy coral as my skin is very light and pink and, to me, the yellows in polish, unless very clear yellow such as “buttercup,” don’t look good.)
At least you don’t have “nubbies” at the ends of your fingers; your nails look nice and long and healthy!

    • Hah! they were long and healthy until about 1 day after these photos were taken. Now they are short! I actually like coral as a polish color…and i HATE yellow. Which is odd cause I’m on a gold kick right now!

  2. I prefer it with the darker base. Looks prettier.
