Creative musings in bright colors

When I first got the neon holo line of polishes from Mentality, I could not stop thinking about how great these 5 colors looked in a line! They were so pretty I took photos of the bottles all arranged! Thus, I knew I just had to do some ombre nail art with them.

The five colors used here (from pinky to thumb) are:
Golden yellow — Jolt
Orange — Shake
Orange red — Startle
Pink red — Drama
Hot pink — Alarm

All of them are so pretty! In the bottle I thought Drama looked the best, but on me I think I prefer Startle and Alarm. The flowers were free-handed with white polish (Sinful Colors – Snow me White) and gold-painted rhinestones were added at the end.

The idea was to have the flower blooming larger on each nail from pinky to pointer. I do like that the flower takes over more of the nail each time!

In the sun these colors REALLY flashed glittery and neon. My camera freaked out! I love it 😀

Each polish will get its on post coming up, but if you are as enamored of these polishes as I am/was/will be, you can get them at the Mentality shop for $6.75 each. Enjoy!

  1. These are very pretty. I’d love to see them in gradients. Pretty cool idea too to have the flower grow bigger from pinky to thumb! Do you know if these stamp well? So many Mentality polishes do stamp well, so I’m just wondering. Thanks!

    • Unfortunately, all my nails are too short for a 5-color gradient but I did think about it! As to stamping, I’m not sure. None of these colors are one-coaters, some took up to three thicker coats. I would not be surprised if they can stamp over white, but I don’t think they would work well over darker colors. Maybe I’ll try stamping with them later this week, its a good question!

      • Oh, my, goodness, I wasn’t thinking of a five-color gradient (though that could be amazing, I, for one, am not attracted to looooong nails) on every nail. I was thinking of them as two-color/side-by-side gradients on each nail…maybe something like in this arrangement:

        pinky – Jolt/Shake
        ring finger – Shake/Startle
        middle finger – Startle/Drama
        index finger – Drama/Alarm
thumb – either Alarm/Jolt or just Alarm

Just a thought. Thank you for letting me know how these polishes would likely perform if used for stamping. 🙂

      • I think I might end up doing a side-by-side rainbow using the whole collection sometime next week actually!

  5. I love this combination of color, the art you did on ’em and the rounded nail shape. I give you a perfect S’mores for this one. 😀
