Shifting Stained Glass

I feel like every time I want to use a lot of multichrome polishes I always think the end result will be prettier than it is. Don’t get me wrong, I find this mani quite pretty…just not as pretty as it could be if the colors shifted EVEN MORE.

IMG_7546

As it stands, I looks like I used 8-10 colors per nail when I only used 5. But it is hard to tell within one nail where each color is because they shift! But I wanted to play with them anyway so here we are. This happens every time I get a new multichrome :-p

IMG_7555

I have a separate post coming up that highlights the base polish here, so I’m not going to focus on it. Basically, I love shifty polishes and I didn’t have a golden copper yet.

IMG_7554

Its so hard to convince myself not to go buy more shifters! They are so pretty! But they are almost impossible to wear to the hospital (the polish is downright distracting), and since there are now SO MANY COLORS by SO MANY BRANDS I don’t even know which ones look the same or different anymore! No one owns them all (that would be crazy) so I can’t get a side-by-side 😦

Anyway, I hope you enjoyed! Maybe next time I’ll remember to stick to one or two shifty polishes, not a whole boatload 😀

Vines Through the Swamp

Don’t ask me about the title. I thought that as lovely as the base is, it looks like a swamp. And then I got stuck into thinking about Shrek and now “I’m a Believer” is stuck in my head on repeat.

IMG_7099

Anyway. This is one of the A England polishes that I picked up a few months ago during the color4nails sale (because I couldn’t resist) and it is LOVELY. Now, at least part of that is because I simply love this type of murky green-brown, but a lot of it has to do with the polish itself! (Actually, I have a post that I’m working on that compares the three green-brown polishes I own. Yes, I own three of them. Because this color is magnificent).

IMG_6092

Shown here is two thin coats of Fotheringhay Castle by A England. I almost could have gotten away with one! Adina’s version of this particular color is a deep murky green-gold with scattered fine holo shimmer. The holo is less noticeable than most other A England holos, but the finish is stunning and you can certainly see the shimmer! I’m quite happy with this 😀

Colors:
~ Green: A England – Fotheringhay Castle
~ Gold shimmer: Sally Hansen – Go for Gold
~ Gold metallic: Essie – Good as Gold
~ Black: Sinful Colors – Black on Black
~ Light pink: ULTA – Babydoll
~ Pink: Essie – Eternal Optimist

IMG_6088

I ended up triple stamping with two Bundle Monster plates: once with a gold shimmer that ended up very faint because the plate was not etched well, once with gold metallic swirls, and then over that using black polish and the same swirls. It came out pretty well for all that stamping madness!

Moroccan Faded Pink

Another simple pink mani for clinic! Luckily, this time around I am allowed to have a bit of a longer free edge to my nails, and I am willing to be a TINY bit more daring and do some darker colors.

IMG_6412

The inspiration for this came from a pinterest pin. Unfortunately, when I was putting the gradient together I didn’t have the image in front of me, and I assumed it was more pink and less white! So, I ended up doing the stamp in white since most of my nail was pink instead of the inverse. Knowing how much longer I’m going to need to wear pink nails, I imagine I will likely try the correct order of this mani (with maybe a slightly different color palette) at some point.

IMG_5786

I almost decided not to matte the final product, but I am glad I did! It looks pretty awesome, even if it is pink. It’s also been a while since I’ve done gradients, so I am pleasantly surprised at how well this one turned out!

~ White: Sinful Colors – Snow me White
~ Light pink: Zoya – Rue

Hope you enjoyed! And if I’m lucky I might get to do even more colors on a fairly regular basis after this 🙂

Pink Peonies

Spring means flowers, right? So have some flowers! Even if the real ones make me sneeze.

IMG_5665

This design was inspired by Copycat Claws although her stamp was far superior to mine! And I really need to find a suitable green jelly polish :-/. Any recommendations?

IMG_5678

I do at least like how the pink and teal came together! Although I wish I had focused a bit more on some yellow/pink. I don’t usually like yellow, but it looks pretty with the pink jelly nearby!

That’s all for today! Hope you enjoyed and happy Friday!

Golden Lined Earth

I couldn’t help but think that this mani ended up looking like dirt with veins of gold in it. I was hesitant about this mani but I really like how it came out!

IMG_5262

These colors are the same (other than the gold) to those used in an earlier mani, Coffee and Cream Chevrons. I wore these to work, so I needed my hands to look as similar as possible…without requiring me to freehand more chevrons! I settled on a gradient with gold lines.

IMG_4702

The gradient is over a base of Zoya Flynn rather than a white base. It made the whole thing darker, which I like, but meant that the palest brown stood out less. I think if I were to re-do this I would use the lightest brown (Zoya Chantal) as the base color rather than Flynn or a white.

Colors
~ Lightest brown: Zoya – Chantal
~ Light brown: Zoya – Flynn
~ Brown: Zoya – Dea
~ Dark brown: Zoya – Louise
~ Gold: Essie – Good as Gold
~ Stamp: BM – 316

IMG_5252

Maybe I should have stamped the same pattern on each nail rather than rotating the image, but I always like changing it up just a bit! Oh well. Hope you enjoyed!

Tribal Memories

Another swatch post today, with some fun (but simple) stamps!

IMG_4417

The base here is my first ever Cadillacquer polish, and I have to say I really like the color! This is three coats of Memory Palace it does not have the densest pigment (hence needing 3 coats) but it went on like a dream and dried at a normal speed. However, the bottle brush was a bit too wide and took some maneuvering to not flood my cuticles.

IMG_4352

Memory Palace is a pale blue-grey with golden flakes and subtle holo shimmer. I need to do a comparison between this and Timeless Vow from ILNP, since both are blue-grey with holo (although just from the bottles, Memory Palace is  much paler, almost a white-grey-blue than Timesless Vow, and Timeless Vow has more holo).

IMG_4379

I’m not going to lie and say I don’t love this polish for its name…although I thought it was inspired by Sherlock and it turns out the actual inspiration was Hannibal, whoops!

IMG_5193

Colors
~ Blue grey: Cadillacquer – Memory Palace
~ Gold: Essie – Good as Gold
~ White: Wet n’ Wild – French White Creme
~ Stamp: BM – 605

That’s all for today! Hope you enjoyed 🙂

Geometric Spaces

Finally, colors! Again, a simple polish + stamp design, but I do think these pair nicely.

img_1992

There really isn’t much to say about this, its just brightly colored and glittery. I did think about making it more complicated, but I actually liked how this looked and decided to stop before I ruined it.

img_1972

I have a whole lot of polishes that I don’t use nearly as often as I should, and Teal Dimension is one of them. The depth is just lovely!

img_1985

Colors
~ Teal holo: LA Girl – Teal Dimension
~ Teal stamping: Mentality – Teal Opaque
~ Stamp: BM – 604
