This was intended as a stained-glass mani (which is to say I had a stamp that always made me think of a rose window from cathedrals) but it mostly just looks like a glittery flower! Ah, well.
I started by hand-painting on concentric rings of glitter polish, pink-red-orange. You almost can’t see the red, it is under the edge of the petals. I then added the stamp with my clear stamper (whee they are all centered!).
Although this is ridiculously glittery, it looks almost nothing like how I hoped! I wanted to get the rings of pink, red, and orange clear…but the red is hidden and the pink and orange look very similar.
~ Pink glitter: Zoya – Alegra
~ Red glitter: China Glaze – Ruby Pumps
~ Orange glitter: OPI – DS Indulgence
~ Black: Mentality – Black Opaque
~ Stamp: BM – 618
I have a hunch I’m going to keep trying to get colorful stained glass until I am happy…. Until next time!
My Emily de Molly stamping plates are sitting out on my polishing desk, so I keep wanting to use them! So, we have another EdM mani. I started with a circle gradient (because they are so cool!) although using pink made my nails look like they were bleeding. Not the best idea. I’ll do a fire theme next I think!
Once they were dry and top coated, I used my old, dried, thick black polish and two of the stamps from EdM plate 09, and went to town! I intended to use the mostly-black stamp only as an accent, but I actually liked it BETTER than the other one, so I just used both and alternated them. My thumb came out PERFECT! Yay 😀
~ Light pink: ULTA – Baby Doll
~ Pink: Sinful Colors – Pink Forever
~ Dark pink: Zoya – Ciara
~ Stamp: EdM – 09
I am incredibly pleased that this stamp works as a black-out…a lot of times, stamps with this much negative space don’t cover very well. Super cool!
I also added tiny pink caviar beads in the middle…because I am on a texture kick and I like running my fingers over my nails and feeling 3D pieces. Because I am strange. Hope you enjoyed!
Gem day! Well, technically, jewel. I thought about doing the awesome gemstone/rupee nails (a-la-Chalkboard Nails) again, but quickly vetoed it when I came upon this lovely bit of nail art by The Dalai Lama Nails. Circular gradient! Star sapphire! Oh yes.
I’ve never tried a circular gradient before…but after this I am defiantly doing it again! I wish I had taken a photo before I added the star-lines. You can’t see almost any of the lightest blue color because it is in the center, but it was a rather cool effect!
On a random note, it’s kinda fun that Dalai Lama Nails has a sapphire engagement ring to! although hers is purple sapphire…so different color but still cool. Non-diamonds unite!
~ Lightest blue: Sally Hansen – Breezy Blue
~ Light blue: Philly Loves Lacquer – Love Those Wildwood Days
~ Medium blue: Zoya – Tart
~ Dark blue: A England – Tristam
I am getting a lot of use out of Tart! When I first got her, I was disappointed that she wasn’t a deeper metallic (like the red Isla or the green Holly), but I like her now! She’s in tomorrows mani too 😀
