Dotted Neon Lace

So, maybe this isn’t exactly what was meant by the prompt “polka dots” for day 11 of the 31 Day Challenge, but I find regular old polka dots boring so this is what you guys get instead!

Back in 2014 I did probably one of my favorite bits of nail art for polka dot day, inspired by Melyne. This year, I decided to do something very similar! Which is to say that this design, too, was inspired by Melyne…the designs are similar but both the inspiration from her and my own nails are slightly different!

That being said, I think I actually like the 2014 nails better. I spent more time on them and it shows! This year’s nails have a bit of a wonky line thing going on. But still lots of dots!

~ Pink: Essie – Sunday Funday
~ White: Sinful Colors – Snow me White

That’s it for today! I’ll have similar post sometime after the end of September where I show you what I wore on my other hand…I was far too lazy to freehand the whole thing so it is basically stamps with the same color scheme (spoilers). Hope you enjoyed!

Royale Flush

I cut my nails short around three weeks ago (I actually have a whole set of posts entitled “tiny nails” that I’ll post eventually about nubbin nail art) and this was done as they were finally growing to a decent length again! I wanted to make my nails mostly match each other, and settled on nude/black/red.

The nail art here was inspired by @glittr, but I obviously changed the colors and some of the designs. I really do not like how busy my pinky ended up being, but oops! I also really think this would have looked better with a nude or grey base, not nude (it almost looks pink here!).

~ Nude: Zoya – Chantal
~ Red: China Glaze – Ruby Pumps
~ Black: Sinful Colors – Black on Black

The title came about because he color scheme reminds me of the Bond movie Casino Royal and thus card games in general! It would have taken forever to paint tiny hearts and spades and diamonds though.

Lines and Circles

I have lemmed (I almost wrote lusted!) for this stamping plate ever since I first saw it months ago over at More Nail Polish. And now, I finally have it (thanks to a sale at Color4Nails) and I can replicate MNP’s work (oh this is awkward…turns out I have no idea what her name is despite following her for YEARS. Ouch). Anyway. Ta-da!

I really like everything about this mani, even down to the base color. So, I dug through my stash for something similar, and wandered on Sky Blue by Nabi…which I haven’t used in forever! I need to get this holo collection out and play with it more. They aren’t the brightest sparkly polishes, but the colors are lovely.

I also have not quite mastered getting stamps on my nails with the lines appropriately vertical. Oh rectangular stamper, I do wish you had been sent to me 😦 My poor circle stamper just isn’t cutting it! That being said, I still like how this came out 😀

~ Blue: Nabi – Sky Blue
~ White: Zoya – Purity
~ Black: Sinful Colors – Black on Black
~ Stamp: EdM – 03

All the stamps! Now there are even MORE double-stamp manis for me to play with….

So, this mani has a complicated set of inspirations, and doesn’t quite do any of them justice. I got the idea for a mandala pattern from Lucy’s Stash, but I decided I wanted to use her direct inspiration instead, and latched onto these two mandalas by elspethmclean. However, I really can’t make dots a small as I wanted to! Thus, my mani isn’t as nice as I wanted but look at the mandalas anyway because they are stunning.

Eslpeth’s mandala stones start with a black base, so I did the same. I grabbed a bunch of yellow, orange, red, pink, and neons and went to town. This took an hour. Oops!

I am NOT going to list all the polishes I used…there are at least 16 and I give up. Sorry!

Anyway, lots of dots. I should have gone with my first idea (two-color dot circles, which I KNOW I can do!) but you never learn unless you try new things!

Hope you enjoyed!

Absent Geometry

Purple day! This mani was inspired by the photo post from femme fatale, where plate 03 was stamped over Dark Forces. I don’t own Dark Forces, and I didn’t want to go through the hassle of removing large circle glitters (aka using Cosmic Forces, which I do own) so I grabbed another dark Emily de Molly polish that I figured would be easier to use; Absent Minded.

I unfortunately forgot about the insane glitter load in this polish, so it STILL took 20 minutes to remove! Despite that, I thought this mani came out great. EdM 03 is FANTASTIC for double-stamping!

~ Pink: L’oreal – Orange You Jealous?
~ White: Zoya – Purity

Sorry you guys are seeing so many stamped manis, I just love all the new stamping plates I’ve bought, and I want to show them off!

Funky Circles

I’m moving tomorrow! This is very very stressful. I have all of my nail polish (7 shoeboxes worth) in one suitcase. Here’s to hoping that none of them break (or any of my glass…I used to blow glass and it is very nerve-wracking to know that they could all shatter)! Anyway. Today’s nail art is centered around the polish Funky Cold Patina by KBShimmer. KBShimmer had a sale a month or so ago, and I just couldn’t resist picking up two new polishes…I still haven’t even tried the other! Oops!

Funky Cold Patina is a bright teal crelly with large dark blue and copper hexes, and smaller light blue and purple glitters. The inspiration was apparently ‘old copper’ (the way it turns blueish when it rusts) and it is awesome!

I had to fish a bit for the larger glitters…I bet if I had let this sit upside-down they would have come out easily. Shown here is three thin coats. The polish covered fine in two, I just wanted a bit extra glitter!

The design was inspired by the ever wonderful Kimiko7878. Honestly, I probably should have done a copper/gold base and used blue, teal, and purple for the circles. It still looks cool, but it doesn’t match as well as I would have liked!

~ Purple: Zoya – Malia

Hope you enjoyed! As a heads up, I have not edited (or written) any of the posts for next week yet, and I don’t know for sure that I will have internet set up in my new apartment by Monday morning. So, if there is no post on Monday it is likely because of an internet fail (or a planning fail…sorry, but keeping my tropical fish alive supersedes editing nail art!). Hopefully see you guys on Monday!

You guys! I have a new collection to share with you, the neon holo line from Mentality! Over the next few weeks (assuming I don’t completely destroy my nails when I move this weekend, eep!) you guys will be seeing 11 rainbow colors in dizzying combos (…or alone…) on my nails! Up first, we have the purple from the collection, Bolt.

Bolt is a true purple (maybe slightly slightly blue-leaning). She covers nicely in three thin coats and dries fast. Removal is a breeze, and control is good (there was almost no clean up necessary). Although this polish is one of the thinner ones (most of the others only require 2 coats) the thinness means the holo glitter shines through nicely!

Although this line of polishes, including Bolt, are holographic, the holo is faint. It adds to the polish and you get a nice silver sheen in the shade with a smattering of rainbow in the sunlight. So pretty!

I was in a rush for time with this design (as I am moving in 4 days, eek!!!!), so I just stamped over Bolt with a silver polish. I was going to add rhinestones, but they would just fall off during packing! I like how it came out regardless.

~ Purple: Mentality – Bolt
~ Silver: A England – Excalibur
~ Stamp: BP – 21

Although I started with purple, I promise I won’t just go backwards up the rainbow! You can find Bolt at the mentality website for the insanely cheap price of $6.75. Free US shipping! Totally worth it.
