Really, I just wanted to play with some fun colors for “watermarble” day! I actually tried 4 combos before settling on this one…the right mix of bright, dark, and glitter.
I’ve been trying to marble with glitter polishes more frequently, since I rather love the effect they leave. This particular set of colors didn’t end up with the glitter mixed into the creme polishes as much as I would have hoped, but I still like it! For some reason, none of the purple or blues I used wanted to play along…and I wasn’t willing to risk my really expensive polishes just to see if they would marble.
I ended up using a bunch of polishes for this, and lets be honest, you probably cannot tell which is which in the photos! I named them all regardless :-p
~ Neon teal: Emily de Molly – Glee Ridden
~ Teal: Zoya – Rocky
~ Teal glitter: Julie G – Mermaid’s Tale
~ Blue: Zoya – Ling
~ Periwinkle: Nails Inc – Regent’s Place
~ Purple: Formula X – Ignition
~ Purple glitter: LA Girl – Purple Effect
Day 20….we are almost 2/3 through the 31 Day Challenge! And at this point I have completed all by the last day’s nail art. I like to pick from within the challenge for the honors nails you love prompt…I have a few ideas, but I am waiting around to see if someone does something that blows me away (and that I can imitate, cause lets be honest I would love to do ANYTHING Coewless has done for this challenge but I am simply not skilled enough). Hope you enjoyed!
Happy (belated) new years! This was not my actual new years mani, but I haven’t actually had any time to edit nail art over break! So much for relaxing and free time. Yikes.
So, the last of my Christmas and my New Years mani will just have to wait till next year? I can probably post the new years one as just a random glittery thing, but i don’t think that santa and elves are anything but christmas!
Regardless, for this mani I was going to stamp…and then I just did dots instead?? It isn’t the best, but it is certainly glittery! And maybe a bit like fireworks if you squint.
~ Black holo: Zoya – Storm
~ Black creme: Wet n’ Wild – Black Creme
~ Pink: Zoya – Alegra
~ White: Wet n’ Wild – French White Creme
I was thinking of doing top-10 posts sometime soon (my favorite nail art and polishes of 2016) but I realized I haven’t posted what is probably my favorite polish of this year! Oops. So maybe I should put that post together first :-p
So, I promised you busy a comparison post, and here it is! I keep my promises 🙂
We have, from pinky to pointer, a “true” matte+textured polish (Emotions by OPI), a Mentality matte+textured polish (Asphalt by Mentality), a true matte polish (Rascal by Mentality…best polish ever), and a black creme (Black on Black by Sinful Colors). As you can see, Asphalt is ever so sightly textured, which is to say it doesn’t have the velvety smooth finish of the true matte. It is, however, NOTHING like the “real” textured polish! As a result, it is much easier to remove and applies more like a matte polish. It does not glitter though.
If left to my own devices, I would probably stray towards true mattes and true textured polishes, but some of the Mentality textured mattes are really cool. I am putting together a swatch post for this weekend for you guys, and I’ll include there the colors that I really think are unique and worth getting with this finish.
Because I can’t NOT do art (really, if I walked into lab with plain nails I think I would die of shame at this point), I added some various sized pink dots in matching tones and finishes! The textured one is Make Him Mine by OPI, the matte one (middle and ring nails) is Coccopesto by Mentality, and the creme one is Private Viewing by Wet n’ Wild.
Anyway, I hope you enjoyed this little comparison! Mixing textures is fun 😀
