I spent a long time trying to figure out how to use this plate, which was sent to me for review from the Born Pretty Store. Fire-colored gradient with black stamping? Gradient stamping? I tried doing yellow and orange and red…but they didn’t pop against black! So I had the brilliant idea of layering them over GOLD. Because that just sounded like fun.

I ended up using a gold glitter rather than a metallic, so the fire looks a little more granular. I think if I were to do this again, I’d try it with a metallic and see what happens! I do like this quite a bit though.

In the end, each nail got stamped 4 times: twice in gold with the two overlaid designs, once with a yellow-orange blotted mix, and finally with a purple-red mix. Surprisingly, this didn’t take that long! Mostly because the plate was so well-etched that transferring the designs was a piece of cake. Even the solid body of the bird on my thumb!

~ Gold: Sally Hansen – Go for Gold
~ Yellow: WOW – #301
~ Orange: ULTA – Sun of a Gun
~ Red: Pure Ice – Siren
~ Purple: Zoya – Margo
~ Dark purple: Zoya – Monica
~ Stamp: BP – X012 (Exoticism)

That’s it for today…awesome fire! I’ve honestly had my eyes on this stamp forever because I love flames but I HATE hand-painting them! And this stamp has SO MANY FLAMES. You can pick it up for yourself at the Born Pretty Store on sale for $1.99. Don’t forget to use my 15% off coded, LY5X31!

Clinging Leaves

I figured I needed to post this (with mostly green leaves) before the seasons changed all the way! Here in Philly the weather still dips into the high 60’s and the leaves are only somewhat changing colors! I don’t know why, they are usually bright red by this point.

The nail art was inspired by Sassy Shelly. I loved her base color set (mine are both darker, but just as nice I think). I don’t however have the stamp she used, so I had to improvise by making a stamping decal with leaves I DID have and then cutting the decals into pieces to only cover some parts of my nails! I think I made 8 total decals before deciding on which 5 to use. Even so, the one on my ring finger covers more than I really wanted it too.

~ Green: Essie – The More The Merrier
~ Yellow: WOW – #301
~ Orange: Zoya – Thandie

This took a while just as a result of waiting for lots of stamping decals to dry (and only having one stamper). Still, it looks fun!

Absent Geometry

Purple day! This mani was inspired by the photo post from femme fatale, where plate 03 was stamped over Dark Forces. I don’t own Dark Forces, and I didn’t want to go through the hassle of removing large circle glitters (aka using Cosmic Forces, which I do own) so I grabbed another dark Emily de Molly polish that I figured would be easier to use; Absent Minded.

I unfortunately forgot about the insane glitter load in this polish, so it STILL took 20 minutes to remove! Despite that, I thought this mani came out great. EdM 03 is FANTASTIC for double-stamping!

Sorry you guys are seeing so many stamped manis, I just love all the new stamping plates I’ve bought, and I want to show them off!

Leafy Green

I know its fall (almost winter) but I couldn’t resist one last happy summer manicure! The Born Pretty Store kindly sent me some stamping plates to review, including plate BP-19, which I used here to double stamp some awesome leaves!

I have always wanted to do a full manicure with leaves…but they just take too darn long to paint by hand. This plate not only has a full leaf image (which I used as the base for my manicure with a medium green), but also vines with leaves, falling leaves (which I used as a dark green topper), grain, and some awesome spiky leaves! I don’t even know what that is in the center of the plate but I KNOW I want to use it!

I had no trouble picking up the images on this plate…and I wasn’t even using very opaque polish! My greens are closer to jellies than cremes. So, kudos Born Pretty Store! This was my first time trying one of their stamping plates and I have to say I am impressed with both the quality of the plate (it is nicely etched) and the number of images on it. They are also larger than in the old Bundle Monster sets…I had no trouble covering my entire thumbnail (now THAT is a first!).

Pebbled Rainbows

I think double stamping is a thing that I like. However, it has been a long times since I tried a multi-color stamp. Much less with another stamp over it! I got the idea from madamluck, although hers looks better than mine.

Next time, I need to figure out the colors for the rainbow stamp better, because the pink/red color was overpowering. Live and learn! I see more of these in the future, with the new stamping set 😀
