My sister is getting married in a few months, and asked me (months ago) to start coming up with ideas for how to paint her nails. This happened a year in advance. I love my sister but she’s a bit of a control freak :-p. These were my first (and my personal favorite) attempt at “nude and white but elegant and a bit of purple”. Of course, she also wanted me to demo all my nude bases, so my pinky and ring finger are one color, and my middle and pointer finger are another. They are so close you can hardly tell, but I KNOW THEY ARE DIFFERENT (yes, obviously, everyone needs 5 almost identical slightly shimmery nude polishes).
So, what are your guys thoughts on these nails? The other ones that I have tried for her so far were the Pale Purple Lace nails. Which to you guys prefer? Any suggestions for how to due something purple/nude/lace/floral that I should try?
My sister wants pastel purple nails “with a hint of pink and white and nude but also with lace and flowers” for her wedding? Well, let me try! If I am being honest I don’t love the white over the super pale purple background, but my sister went somewhat gaga for this manicure (she liked the flowers on my ring finger) so there is that! My mother (who hates most nail art and prefers old-fashioned nude manicures) actually liked this one a surprisingly large amount.
Colors: ~ Pale purple shimmer: Ethereal Lacquer – Little Oysters ~ White: Sinful Colors – Snow me White ~ Light purple: Zoya – Abby ~ Purple: L’oreal – Royalty Reinvented ~ Stamps: BP – L084, MoYou – Frenchy 14, Nicole Diary – L21
Please let me know what you guys think about this manicure, and if I should try and encourage my sister to let me to do something like this for her wedding or something more nude, more lace, or more floral! Hope you enjoyed 🙂
This combines a whole bunch of my favorite things: Zoya polish, snowflake stamps, glitter powder with stamping…and the end result was pretty freaking awesome 😀 I even added some textured polish dots to have something to play with!

The plate I used, Nicole Diary 120, was awesome. I love the huge variety and sizes of snowflakes! You guys saw some of this plate last week (during my first installment of purple-with-gold for winter) and I have only kept using it. I love not having to freehand the flakes, and they are so pretty and complicated! Happy purple snow-time, hope you enjoyed!
I don’t know why exactly, but for some reason this pattern reminds me of fancy engraved padlocks? The end result was pretty cool looking! And it was an almost perfect internally slightly skewed double stamp 😀 In the sunlight it almost looks like the silver is glowing through the black, which is one of the cooler accidental effects I have ever achieved!
Colors: ~ Purple with pink shimmer: Quixotic Polish – It Rubbed Off From Friction ~ Silver: A England – Excalibur (Renaissance) ~ Black: Sinful Colors – Black on Black ~ Stamp: BP – L049
I have a whole collection of stamped manicures on backlog, which I need to get through before I can start posting a lot of the newer stuff, which is a whole bunch of freehand! We shall see how long this takes :-p. Hope you all enjoyed!
This was inspired by @falguni_nails, but her IG appears to no longer exist! Oops. Regardless, I would seldom use different shades of brown for anything other than tree branches without outside inspiration, so this was fun! I also need to remember that carmel brown might be a stunning color but not with my skin tone. I have lobster hands 😦 but I love the design so whatever. Thats also why these images are darker than usual, no matter how I tried to color correct either my hands or the polish looked wrong, so here we are!
Colors: ~ Brown: Zoya – Flynn ~ Dark brown: Zoya – Louise ~ Rose gold metallic: Essie – Penny Talk ~ Gold metallic: Essie – Good as Gold ~ Gold glitter: ILNP – Juliette
Every bit of this mani is freehanded (this is what I do with my days off…especially when I had a cold last year and didn’t feel like exposing my germ-filled self to the outside world)! Anyway, hope you enjoyed!
Simple brown gradient with brown and then gold stamps! Of course with this type of stamp I always add some freehand dots to make it even prettier 😀
Colors: ~ Nude: Zoya – Chantal ~ Dark brown: Zoya – Louise ~ Brown: Zoya – Dea ~ Light brown: Zoya – Flynn ~ Gold: Essie – Good as Gold ~ Stamps: Nicole Diary – L28
I actually really like how this manicure came out. It was fast, easy, elegant, and fun to wear. Its also quite seasonally appropriate without being either drab or too orange/purple/green! 😀 Hope you enjoyed as much as I did! If you want to pick up this stamping plate (which I have to admit is actually a rather awesome one) you can find it here for $6.99.
While I actually rather love how this mani came out, I like the inspiration better and am likely to try again in the future with a different color palette! I saw these nails at @billythebrime_nails and fell in love. Grey. Swirls. Roses. Moody yet awesome. How could I resist? And they fit so well for flower day in the 31 Day Challenge!
If I’m being honest, I liked my own mani better before I added the roses. The variegated grey background with darker grey swirls was elegant and very pretty. However, when I added the roses I realized I had made three mistakes: I used pink-based-reds for the roses (so when I mixed white with red I got pink rather than a deep orange-red…next time I need to aim for orange/red not pink/red), the roses are too small, and my swirls aren’t dark enough! They looked great on their own, but with the roses they just looked a little flat.
Colors: ~ Light grey: Zoya – Dove ~ Grey: WOW – #333 ~ Dark grey: Zoya – Evvie ~ White: LA Girl – White On ~ Light red: Pure Ice – Siren ~ Red: OPI – All I Want for Christmas (is OPI) ~ Dark red: OPI – Visions of Love ~ Stamp: Moyra – 50 Ornaments 3
I ended up going over by hand on some of the swirls nearest the roses, to make them appear bolder. It ended up giving my swirls an almost gradient appearance, which I quite like, but again I like Billy’s version better! Surprisingly, these nails took under an hour to do, so I’ll probably try them again sometime, with a few modifications! Hope you enjoyed!
I hate how long striping tape takes but I do adore the end result. To be honest this manicure was almost shades of gold/green/teal, but in an odd move I decide to start with a black base instead and the rest was history. Does make it perfect for the black and white day of the 31 day challenge though!
What you see here are two coats of Naughty Newton by Formula X over one coat of a black creme (as always, Sinful Colors Black on Black). I imagine this will be a pain in the butt to remove because the glitter sin Newton are the thicker grittier type. As a result, however, they are unbelievably sparkly! If I didn’t already own both Zoya Storm and Stella Chroma Karavaki I think I would be more excited about this. It is an undeniably pretty polish, and is somewhat interesting. It is a black very sheer jelly with copious silver holo glitters and small black glitters. Obviously you can’t see the black glitters over black, but it does make me wonder how this would look over just about any other color!
Colors: ~ Black glitter: Forumla X – Naughty Newton ~ Pastel grey: Forumla X – Delightful ~ Light grey: Zoya – Dove ~ Grey: WOW – #333 ~ Dark grey: Zoya – Evvie ~ Black: Sinful Colors – Black on Black
The medium-dark grey shade is a 50/50 mix of 333 and Evvie, I just don’t have a good medium-dark grey that doesn’t have shimmers in it. Also, Evvie is green-tinged and I wanted to make sure that didn’t stand out. The end result is boring in terms of colors but quite pretty in terms of presentation! Hope you enjoyed!
Very simple, very easy, and surprisingly pretty! Life hardly ever works out like that :-p This is also the last post before the overwhelming wonder that is *dun dun dunnnnnn* the 31 day challenge!
~ Purple shimmer: Painted Polish – Just One Look
~ Light grey: Formula X – Delightful
~ Dark grey: WOW – #333
I should probably try and do more nail art that is as simple as this. It works, it takes very little time, and because the nail tips are somewhat thicker, it lasts for a while without chipping off or cracking. Voila, happy purple and grey day 😀
Simple gold swirly stamp on a raspberry red semi-holo base! I remember back when I thought that this is what holographic polish looked like. And then I learned what true holo was! That said, this was the first Zoya polish I ever bought, so it continues to hold a special place in my heart.
~ Red holo: Zoya – Blaze
~ Gold: Essie – Good as Gold
~ Stamp: Moyra – 50 Ornaments 3
Its odd, for such a simple design I think this nail art (and these photos) came out beautifully. I think a lot of how much I like a finished design has to do with my nail shape on any given day. I try to keep it consistent, but it is very hard when I keep having to file them down and cut them into funny shapes whenever I break a nail! Either way, when everything comes together shape-wise, even simple nail art is prettier 😀
Very simple but quite pretty! Primarily because both this polish and this stamp are stunning. I think I have used this stamp at least 5 times, which is impressive seeing as how I have literally hundreds of stamps :-p. Can’t help picking favorites!
~ Grey glitter: Emily de Molly – Shadow on the Moon
~ Purple: Sinful Colors – Muse
~ Stamp: MoYou – Porcelain 01
Anyway, hope you all enjoyed! I didn’t mean to do two purples in a row, but to be fair Monday’s post was supposed to go up on friday (oops)!
I feel like IG has been full of pretty leaf manicures. I don’t know why and to be honest I didn’t get it at first, but the simple delicacy eventually won me over and I had to make my own. Of course, green is boring and pink is (oddly) overdone, so I went for purple! Ta-da. I do love the way the glitter fits with the shimmery pink highlights in the base color. Ok lets be honest I just really love shimmer polishes :-p
The surprise with this manicure was using a grey stamping polish rather than a black one. I almost always reach for black/white or silver/gold (they stamp well); I didn’t want this to be super bold (especially since this plate works so well) so I actually used a grey! Surprise! Hope you enjoyed 🙂
A simple manicure, but honestly not a bad one! I wanted a tone-on-tone and I realized it had been a while since I had used my one purple foil to stamp. I picked a stamp that I like (honestly I probably over-use this stamp given how many others I have) and just went to town! The end result is admittedly subtle, but also pretty.

That’s all for today! There is no real theme to this week as you can probably tell, just whatever I had lying around in my not yet posted folder. Hope you enjoyed!
This ended up being oddly delicate? I didn’t mean it to be but its actually rather pretty! Between the pastel grey-green base, the thin black lines, and the scattered gold glitter, I’ll take it!
This mani (by which I mean this base polish) exists because a coworker tipped me off that a local St Louis tchotchke (turns out I’ve never had to spell tchotchke before!) store was selling old Formula X polishes for $1 each. These used to be something like $12 each at Sephora (and I think I bought 4 of them when they were on some kind of sale) and this random odds and ends store had HUNDREDS of these polishes in boxes! So, of course, I pawed through them and ended up buying 12 polishes. For $12. Now, one was a top coat and one was a base coat (I had to test them…) but still. I am so happy!
Anyway. I doubt this polish is really available to purchase anywhere but I am going to review it regardless because it is new to me. This is two thin coats of Quantum by Forumula X. It is a pretty, subtle, pale grey-green and I quite like it! It is a bit more neutral than I usually reach for, but I don’t own anything quite like it and it was easy to wear and to match to things. I have already worn it again and I only bought the polish 3 months ago.

Hope you enjoyed this delicate art! I promise we are coming to the end of flower power posts. I just figured I would dump all my flower manicures online while it was still spring time! 😀
This one might not have many colors, but it makes up for that with elegance! There are few monochromatic manicures that I actually enjoy wearing, but this was one of them. The stamp is lovely, and silver-on-grey works (at least sometimes).
~ Grey: Zoya – Dove
~ Silver: A England – Excalibur
~ Stamp: BP – L049
I feel like I seldom wear things that qualify as classy in anyway, but these nails made me feel fancy! They might not be as much fun as my usual style, but sometimes a girl just needs class over pizzaz :-p
A full 5 days into wearing the manicure I added some rabbits because I have a friend that loves them. I was impressed by how good the mani looked…but also, bunnies! So please enjoy the classing down of the silver grey-ness too 😀
What to do with a mauve base? Use grey? Purple? Gold or silver? I never know! For whatever reason I used a purple topper on this, and the end result is thus a lot more purple than mauve. Not half bad, despite the color shift!
I actually really like this stamp, which is why I thought it might be able to overcome my dislike of pointed/rounded nails…but I was wrong. I need to get over myself and just cut my nails short when I lose a corner of a nail. This nail shape looks awful! I think this is the last rounded-nail manicure I have, I haven’t broken my nails this badly in a while. Hope you enjoyed despite the nail shape!
Very simple manicure, but elegant! Sadly two of my nails broke so the edge is rounded (I don’t like my nails rounded) but this ended up looking ok despite that, somehow. This ended up being one of my favorite lace designs from the last year…maybe because the base is just slightly more interesting, but really I think it is the stamp! Anyway, these aren’t half bad :-p

Almost to valentine’s day, which means i am almost done with the boring lace nail marathon! Oh, I cannot wait to bring back colors to the blog. But I suppose if anyone is getting married and needs to pick between a bunch of similar nude and white/gold manicure this is a good little patch to come to…
I love this mani. The leaves are upside-down from where they should be (oops) but it still looks awesome. Also, I finally did a stamp transfer to make a mirror image! That has NEVER worked for me before!
The base polish here is a new-to-me beauty called Darling, Red Isn’t Your Color by Cadillaquer. It is an off-white jelly base filled with tiny red glitters and small and medium black glitters. It is subtle and amazing and I love it. I am always looking for more off-white crellies and this is a success! This is three thin coats.
I then stamped in black, colored the leaves in pale grey and the roof in two different shades of red (you can’t really see the gradient but it made me happy), and voila! Next time I do this (cause lets be honest, this combination of designs is happening again) I will make sure the maple leaves point DOWN not UP. Oops!

That’s it for today! Happy Friday. It is currently only in the low 80s in St Louis…I hope this cooler weather holds until I have a few days off next week!!
A post! Sorry its so late. Today was my day off and I still barely got everything done! Also the Blues won the Stanley Cup and now the whole city is honking and cheering. I suppose I should be posting blue nail art but I have nothing prepared at the moment! The stadium (well, both hockey and baseball) are about a mile from my house and there are helicopters circling overhead at the moment.
Anyway, this was a very fast manicure. Beautiful multichrome holo polish and a matching stamp. Ta-da! It helps that this stamp is both playful and elegant :-p
~ Red-gold holo multichrome: Enchanted Polish – I Am the Walrus
~ Brown: Zoya – Louise
~ Stamp: EdM – 06
Hope you guys enjoy, despite the late-ness! I am already dreading my shift in the emergency room tomorrow morning, I assume it will be full of people who over-indulged following the hockey win!
I loved wearing this manicure. Purple, swirls, and gradients? Yes please! It helped that making this was straightforward but it was eye-catching and looked quite complicated!
Really, this is a gradient stamp on an already existing gradient. I started with a purple gradient (lightest at the cuticle, darkest at the free edge) and then stamped a more subtle gradient (darkest at the cuticle, lightest at the free edge) over it. So many gradients! I honestly don’t know why I haven’t tried this idea again the past few months, it looks so cool 🙂
That’s all for today! Some more fun weird stamping combinations coming on Wednesday, and one of my favorite new polishes on Friday! Also, my posts are finally going to get longer now that the “hard” part of my year is over, the next 4 weeks are pretty darn straight-forward. Hope you enjoyed!
