Cute art time! I have been meaning to make cows for a while. My initial intent was just spots with a cow face as an accent nail, but this post by imichelley convinced me otherwise!

The accent nail is supposed to be a sultry she-cow…but it just looks evil. Apparently I can’t do cow eyeliner? That makes some sense…I can’d do human eyeliner either! (No, really. Don’t ask, I’ve almost poked my eyeball out more than once).

  • White: Zoya – Purity
  • Pink: Sinful Colors – Pink Forever
  • Black: Sinful Colors – Black on Black

My only word of advice if you want to try this, try to keep the pink layers thin! The polish was not completely dry even after a few hours and it wrinkled when I showered because it was so thick. Sad!

Nerdtastic Tuesday: Super Mushroom

It has been a while since I have done nerdy nails. Too many elegant things recently! Time for fun. And what is more fun than the speed-boost-giving super mushroom from mariokart? NOTHING!

I don’t know if I’ve mentioned this, but I have only actually played three video games (I have watched many, but not played many). Those three: portal 2, rock band, and mariokart. There is nothing on this planet that can make me curse and threaten to kill people more than mariokart. Except maybe my sister. But you get the idea.

The red super mushrooms bestow a speed boost during the race. And they are fun! At some point I will do “real” mario nails….but I did these on a Tuesday night so I needed something easy.

Andddd now I am humming mariokart music. Darn! Enjoy :-p

Today, we have the second of the new polishes from Paint Shop Polish: Bennett Witch*! Now, before I rush into this, I need to clarify that I LOVE GREEN GLITTER JELLIES. You have been warned. I also love cute things. Like sheep.

Bennett Witch is a new limited edition polish from the Vampire Diaries collection. It is a mix of various shades and sizes of green glitter, suspended in a blue-green base. I played with this polish on a swatch wheel before realized that it would take 3+ layers to be opaque on its own, and that I actually wanted to use it over a light yellow-green color rather than trying to tone match with a dark green. What you see here is three thin coats of Bennett Witch over one coat of The More The Merrier by essie.

This polish is awesome. It went on really nicely, and I got great jelly and glitter coverage. I worked with thin coats to avoid dragging, but I didn’t need to worry! That being said, I didn’t try fishing for glitter in this polish, and as a result did not pull out any large green squares that were floating around. They made it onto the brush once or twice, but never out of the bottle. I don’t feel bad, I really like the green hexes in squishy jelly! As with Wolf Boy, Bennett Witch only needed one coat of top coat to lie smooth. The glitters in this polish are light, medium, and dark green hexes of various sizes, a few bar glitters, and a smattering of green squares. Depending on what color you layer this over, I bet you could accent either the lighter or darker glitters!

I decided (since it is spring) to accent this with some sheep-based nail art! My little barn now consists of 4 white sheep and one grey sheep. They are so cute!

  • Bright green (base): Essie – The More The Merrier
  • Green glitter: Paint Shop Polish – Bennett Witch
  • White: Zoya – Purity
  • Grey: WOW – #333
  • Pink: Sinful Colors – Pink Forever
  • Black: Sinful Colors – Black on Black
  • Top coat: Glisten & Glow – HK Girl

You can find Bennett Witch for $4 or $8 in the Paint Shop Polish etsy site. Go check it out! Especially if you like green 🙂

Easter Eggs

Hello readers! Today I have another easter mani for you guys…eggs and a bunny! Created this using two KBShimmer polishes so it could be entered into their facebook-based contest, so if you love me/the manicure/just feel like making my day a little better (I got 5 hours of sleep. Ugh), please head over to the Facebook page (here) and “like” my mani! It’s the last one.

Honestly, the eggs didn’t come out as sharp as I would like. If these were real eggs, I would feel a bit like a 5th grader! But they are still somewhat cute. The bunny on the other hand…adorable 🙂

And yes, I know, why is my pointer my accent nail? Because I forgot and painted my ring finger white. So all that was left was my pointer and darn it I wanted a bunny! Besides, this is nail art. Do I really have to follow rules?

  • Blue: KBShimmer – I’d Rather Be With Blue
  • Purple: KBShimmer – Plum Tuckered Out
  • Pink: Sinful Colors – Pink Forever
  • Black: Sinful Colors – Black on Black
  • White: Zoya – Purity
  • Yellow: WOW – #301
  • Orange: L’oreal – Orange You Jealous?
  • Green: Essie – The More The Merrier

Enjoy! And happy easter weekend.

Ducky Nails

Let me preface this post by saying that YES my nails are too long. I hate it. But it needed to happen, for the adorable glory that is this manicure. I have been staring at ducky nails (as distinct from that awful acrylic trend known as duck nails) for a long while. My nails are finally long enough for beaks!

This manicure was amazingly easy. But you do need long nails to execute it, or your ducks just look…silly. Squished. To see just how easy this was, there is a tutorial at the bottom! Just keep scrolling 🙂

I really have nothing else to say about this manicure except that it was worth it. I cut my nails as soon as I took this off, and they are a more normal (and typable) length now.

  • White: Zoya – Purity
  • Yellow: WoW – #301
  • Black: Sinful Colors – Black on Black

I hope you enjoyed these little guys as much as I did making them!

Ducky Nails

  1. Base coat your nails, and paint them with white polish.
  2. Create a rather large and curved french tip design in yellow. You can use nail guides if you like, these were free-handed.
  3. Add two tiny black dots in the yellow area for nostrils, and larger black dots (or U shapes, or whatever your heart desires) in the white area for eyes.
  4. For added adorableness, add small white dots in the eyes.
  5. Wait a few minutes for the black polish to dry, and add top coat. Enjoy!

Guest Post: Lucy from Make Up Crazy

Lucy hails from California, and was actually the winner of my first giveaway earlier this year! Although her blog tends to feature make up, I promise she does ADORABLE nail art. Take a look!

Lucy actually put together 4 different nail art manis for this guest post! Up first is her take on Disney’s new movie Frozen! I did some rather abstract Frozen nails a few weeks ago, and her’s are so much more recognizable! We have snow (obviously), Anna and Elsa, and the gangly but loveable snowman Olaf! How great is that?
Lucy 1

She also put together a cute little mish-mash of pink and orange. I have never been brave enough to wear these two colors together, but they do look great!
Lucy 2

Her final two nails are two sets of holiday/Christmas designs! The first one features a snowman face, candy cane stripes, a gift, a dot tree, and a gingerbread nail.
Lucy 3

For her final design, Lucy sent over a cake, snow, santa, and lights! So cute.

I love that all of her designs use so many colors! Thanks again Lucy for your guest post and nail art 🙂

Dancer the Reindeer

*Provided for review

Today, for your viewing pleasure, I present Dancer from Paint Shop Polish. Candi (the maker of these lovely polishes) sent me two bottles from her winter release…Dancer and Donner! I love reindeers 🙂

Dancer is a deep brick red shimmer. The polish went on easily, was opaque in two coats, and dried rather fast. Although the polish looked very streaky on application, it dried completely flat! I was impressed. This polish leans a bit more orange than any of the deep reds in my collection, and has a beautiful shimmer in the light.

I decided to compliment Dancer with reindeer! How could I not? And snow. Because reindeer and snow just make sense. I even have a reindeer tutorial that will show up on Nail It! Magazine soon!

  • Deep red: Paint Shop Polish – Dancer
  • Brown: Zoya – Louise
  • Black: Sinful Colors – Black on Black
  • White: Zoya – Purity
  • Red: City Color – Red

You can find Paint Shop Polish on etsy, Facebook, and twitter. There are so many lovely colors to choose from! If you don’t want to invest a lot of money, Candi offers both mini and full size polishes, including of Dancer.
I also have a 10% off coupon for you guys! Use the code PSP10 on your next order, and enjoy!

Also, don’t forget to enter my giveaway! Ends in two days 🙂 (US only)
