Really, I just wanted to play with some fun colors for “watermarble” day! I actually tried 4 combos before settling on this one…the right mix of bright, dark, and glitter.
I’ve been trying to marble with glitter polishes more frequently, since I rather love the effect they leave. This particular set of colors didn’t end up with the glitter mixed into the creme polishes as much as I would have hoped, but I still like it! For some reason, none of the purple or blues I used wanted to play along…and I wasn’t willing to risk my really expensive polishes just to see if they would marble.
I ended up using a bunch of polishes for this, and lets be honest, you probably cannot tell which is which in the photos! I named them all regardless :-p
~ Neon teal: Emily de Molly – Glee Ridden
~ Teal: Zoya – Rocky
~ Teal glitter: Julie G – Mermaid’s Tale
~ Blue: Zoya – Ling
~ Periwinkle: Nails Inc – Regent’s Place
~ Purple: Formula X – Ignition
~ Purple glitter: LA Girl – Purple Effect
Day 20….we are almost 2/3 through the 31 Day Challenge! And at this point I have completed all by the last day’s nail art. I like to pick from within the challenge for the honors nails you love prompt…I have a few ideas, but I am waiting around to see if someone does something that blows me away (and that I can imitate, cause lets be honest I would love to do ANYTHING Coewless has done for this challenge but I am simply not skilled enough). Hope you enjoyed!
These came out cute! Although, sadly, they were cuter in my head. I just wanted something colorful and spring-y! I do wish that I had a left a bit more space between the flowers on some of my nails, but oh well.
The art is inspired by @lifeisbetterpolished, who has apparently changed her ID to @withlovekarissa and I had to hunt around and make sure I wasn’t tagging someone who stole her photos!
Anyway. Flowers, and negative space. I don’t usually go for negative space designs, but putting this on a white background seemed too…jarring.
~ Sheer nude: Formula X – Marvelous
~ Pink: Wet n’ Wild – Tickled Pink
~ Orange: Wet n’ Wild – Sunny Side Up
~ Yellow: WOW – #301
~ Green: Essie – The More The Merrier
~ Blue: Essie – Rock the Boat
~ Purple: Essie – Full Steam Ahead
It is amusing that 90% of the colors I used came from two pastel collections (Wet n’ Wild and Essie)! I should go back to buying collections that come out with rainbow colors with the same finish, it makes for the best nail art! Hope you enjoyed!
I had such high hopes for this mani, and they fell flat. 100% of that is my fault! I am going to try and re-do this one (hopefully sometime soon) and do it RIGHT.
My problem is that I tried to duplicate the nude base of the mani from Baroquen Nails, rather than just pick a random color to use as a base. The nude I grabbed takes 3 coats to be even remotely opaque, and is super thick so my nails look really fat. Also, my matte top coat is only quasi-matte…the blue color that I used is a true matte and looked much better BEFORE I added top coat!
The blue is called Brute by Mentality, and covers nicely in two thin coats. We’ll see what happens when I re-do this mani, I might use the same blue matte and just figure out how to make the rest of the design look better!
~ Nude: Forumla X – Marvelous
~ Blue: Mentality – Brute
~ Gold: OPI – I Found a Pot of Gold
The fun part here are these extra-thick striping tape pieces in gold from the Born Pretty Store. However, I think this is a terrible use for them, so I’ll be fully reviewing them next week! Suffice to say I love striping tape, and these are $0.99, so if you like striping tape to, check them out!
