Dry Marble Firemaze

So, this was a LOT of fun. I know the prompt is water marble, and this is a dry marble, but it was incredibly fun to put together and the two water marbles that I made for today both came out rather poorly, so you get this instead! After, what is the 31 Day Challenge about if not weird pretty new things?

I started with a yellow base, and dry marbled the rest of the colors using a fan brush. I think this might be the first (or second) time I have ever even touched my fan brush. The red and dark orange got overwhelming (fanning on colors was so fun!) so I added some additional yellow at the end. After all that, I added a maze stamp. Voila!

~ Pastel yellow: Maybelline – Citrus Collide
~ Yellow: OPI – Never a Dulles Moment
~ Orange: OPI – Freedom of Peach
~ Dark orange: Essie – Playing Koi
~ Red: Pure Ice – Siren
~ White: Sinful Colors – Snow me White
~ Stamp: BM – 609

I think this is the first year I haven’t posted a real water marble for water marble day, but you guys will just have to forgive my dry marble replacement :-p. Next Monday’s (assuming I get it put together) will be excellent so be excited!

Mesmerizing Maze

I might have messed this up a teeny tiny bit. But it still looks awesome!

This was yet another “Eva plays with awesome stamps that can finally be centered, yay!” only I accidentally reversed the one on my pointer finger. It’s still centered…just upside-down. Oops!

In my defense, my lovely boyfriend and a friend of ours were downstairs making me cookies (yay!) but kept yelling about spilling melted butter all over the microwave, dropping milk, creating giant monster blobs of cookie dough…I was getting a bit nervous about the state and survival of our (admittedly tiny and sad) kitchen. So I messed up a stamp.

~ Multichrome: ILNP – Masquerade
~ Black: Mentality – Black Opaque
~ Stamp: B Loves Plates – Mind Blown

So anyway, please forgive the upside-down stamp. The colors of the ILNP multichromes continue to make me drool. And the cookies were decent! Although now I should maybe start cleaning the kitchen. 😀

Bahama Maze

Here is a fun mani! I know it isn’t seasonly appropriate….but I am loving me some bright colors. So, I put together a yellow/pink/blue gradient and stamped using one of the new Bundle Monster plates. Since I’m pretty sure the plate design was modeled after this mani by Chalkboard Nails, I tried to recreate it!

I have also included a picture of what happens when I stamped from about half the plates, just to test how well they were etched. So far, I have found two plates that don’t transfer well from my set…plates 606 and 620 (not shown here…I tried to stamp with the EKG hearts and it failed). All the others look good and seem to work well at least on paper!

~ Yellow: WOW – #301
~ Pink: Essie – The Girls are Out
~ Blue: Zoya – Ling
~ Black: Sinful Colors – Black on Black
~ Stamp: BM – 609

I do wish I had included a bit less blue in this mani, but I keep forgetting to add extra space to the middle color in my gradients. Ugh!

Hope you enjoyed! Stay tuned for more winter-inapproprate bright colors and stamps of awesome nature 😀

Sunset Maze

This is a two-part mani, mostly because I did it on my right hand (using my left) and realized that (a) I liked the accent nail better than the others and (b) the lines needed to be straighter. This was the third possible submission for the Rite Aid Nail Art finalist entry. So, I took it off the next day, and re-did it!

I started with a somewhat-rainbow gradient (unfortunately we were not given white polish to use, so its over a somewhat sheer milky base. I’m sure the colors would pop more over white!).

The original design involved free-handing straight lines using black nail polish to create a maze pattern. My accent nail got Revlon’s white nail art pen rather than polish on a brush.

That pen is AMAZING. Unfortunately, it wasn’t 100% opaque at one coat, so I tried to dab it on where it was a bit sheer…and when I added top coat it broke into pieces (see the black with white accent nail photos). However, when I re-did it, I just went over a second time on the whole design (only on my thumb, the other fingers were mostly ok), and it didn’t break apart.

I really love the way this looks! It was, of course, inspired by the beautiful mani at Chalkboard Nails.

  • Green: Essie – The More The Merrier
  • Pink: L’oreal – Orange You Jealous
  • Purple: L’oreal – Royalty Reinvented
  • Blue: L’oreal – Not a Cloud in Sight
  • Dark blue: L’oreal – Shocking Seas
  • Black: Pretty Woman – Black polish from velvet flocking powder kit
  • White: Revlon – nail art pen

I really love the nail art pen! And I want to do this again…but over white and with brighter colors. Well, some brighter colors. That pink really pops!

Which do you like better, the black or the white?

Hope you enjoyed!
