Falling Leaves

I did two VERY similar manicures…one on each hand. Mostly because mutlichromes are fun and I at this point have too many of them :-p.

IMG_7508

The other mani is shiftier, and will go up next week so that I don’t bore you guys with the same manicure twice, more-or-less. This one, although it shifts less, I actually think I like better (and that’s unusual)! The colors came together really well.

IMG_1454

I started with a green multichrome base (this one shifts from an emerald green to a bright teal, and a deeper blue at steep angles) and then used advanced stamping (aka coloring in the design on the stamper) to add the leaves. Two of the leaf colors are multichromes, although the golden-brown one barely shifts (its mostly a gold to greenish-grey, but it was already a grey-gold to start with). The other one shifts from copper to brown, which is again, not a super big shift. I like it anyway!

I will admit to staring at my nails and moving them around trying to capture the right angles for these photos…but I just gave up and picked ones that looked pretty and glow-y instead. So, pretend that they can shift at least a little? Meh. Still pretty! Now if only it would COOL DOWN around here…it should not be 80 degrees out in Philly in mid-October!

Magic Trick

One eight hour exam done, one nine hour exam to go…and then I am free of massive standardized tests for a year! In celebration, this post has far too many photos of shifting awesomeness.

IMG_9466

I wanted to replicate this art by Nail Art Sakura, and I almost did? The plate I used isn’t quite as well etched so the black isn’t as dark as I would like, but otherwise it’s pretty close!

IMG_9430

The base color here is two thin coats of ILNP The Magician over black. I tried to use only one coat, butt was not quite enough glitter! I have since used this polish again, and one thicker coat also does the trick. Regardless, here, two was perfect! The Magician is primarily a red-copper glitter. It shifts to copper, gold, pale green, and emerald at sharp angles. I used it over black to get the maximum shift, but honestly it looks really cool over many darker colors (my favorite thus far is deep blue). Regardless, shifty awesomeness!

IMG_9439

I think you guys can see why I took so many photos. And why I couldn’t pick which ones to post! The only sad thing is that in sunlight you mostly just see the bright red-copper, with maybe a hint of green-gold at the edges of the nail.

This is also a really fall-appropriate color (it will make a re-appearance within the next month)! I technically did this mani back in July, but I’ve been saving it since no one wants to see such dark colors in the middle of the summer :-p

IMG_9400

Hope you enjoyed! Unfortunately, this is my favorite mani for this week…you’ll see why!

Starswirl

So, I painted my nails with yet ANOTHER new multichrome (I need to stop buying them!!) from ILNP…and then I was stumped. Do I do something bold and shocking? Something subtle? Freehand? Stamping? Decision paralysis!

IMG_8894

Then I realized that my nails are JUST short enough to use only half of one of my stamping plates. Now, this plate has a lot of cool designs that are meant to be centered, but I honestly like thinks that start at the edges of my nails better. So voila!

IMG_8835

After that it was easy: tone-on-tone (as much as possible for a crazy multichrome) and maybe a little 3D bit? Sure!

IMG_8880

The base color is Greatness by ILNP. Greatness is primarily a red-leaning pink, that shifts strongly to orange-gold and then green-gold at sharp angles. The bottle also shows hints of blue, but that does not carry through onto the nail. It is not the shiftiest polish that I own, but it it still quite stunning! A little more subtle than some of the others, but that might just be because pink-gold is less ridiculous than teal-purple.

IMG_8772

I actually ended up wearing this polish for A WHOLE DAY without any art over it. That never happens! Shifty goodness. I do like the art though :-D. The 3D bit is actually a rhinestone that I covered with another multichrome polish just for a tiny bit of contrast (and because the original gold of the rhinestone stood out too much for my tastes).

I should take all my similarly-colored multichromes and paint one on each nail for comparison at some point. Maybe then I can convince myself I have enough? Unlikely! Hope you enjoyed!

Undeniably Reaching

More fun with multi chromes! Even if I don’t do a great job showing the shift in this one…unfortunately all the pictures with lots of shift in them came out blurry! Sorry.

IMG_6346

I basically just wanted to do another mani with Undenied and some gold. Not super exciting, but it was fun to put together and the shifty color is pretty!

IMG_8032

I really do need to find a way to put all my multichromes in one mani and still show their awesome shifty-ness. It would be epic 😀

Hope you enjoyed! One last boring pink-and-white mani on Wednesday and then we get to the COLORS!

Touching Tips

This mani was risky…because I wore it to the hospital! I was tired of not wearing colors, and this untried multichrome was just starting at me. Begging to be used. So use it I did!

IMG_8008

The base here is three thin coat sod Undenied by ILNP. Seriously, I NEED to stop buying ILNP multichromes! I think I own a whole rainbow at this point. Undenied is a tiny bit thinner than some of the other multichromes I’ve used, I could have gotten away with two thicker coats but I wanted to make sure there would be no bubbles!

IMG_7935

Regardless, the main color is a vibrant purple with red undertones, which shifts through magenta, pink, and orange-gold at sharp angles. Primarily you get the purple, pink, and a hint of reddish-orange. I don’t own any other purple multichromes, I really like this!

IMG_7979

Once that was dry (and you know, I took something like 40 photos), I added the nail art. I ended up putting down a bit of a stamp from an EdM plate, and then deciding it didn’t look exiting enough so adding some dots. Which in retrospect I wish I hadn’t…it looked better without them! Oh well.

That’s it for this week! Now I just need to figure out if next week should be another Disney week…mwhahaha (that’s my evil laugh). Enjoy!

Burnished Copper

The Born Pretty Store sent me another nail polish! Since I get to chose which colors I want, I of course went after a multichrome…and then stamped over it.

IMG_6220

I’ve had my eye on any number of copper-based multichrome polishes (hilariously, when I ordered this polish I owned 0 and I now own 3, oops), and I thought I would give this one a try! Unlike many of the other multi chromes I’ve bought, this one DOES require a black base.

IMG_7526

I put on a black creme polish, and then added two thin coats of 212 (the polish doesn’t have a name, sadly). It went on streaky, but dried with minimal brush strokes! And two coats was more than enough, which is great seeing as how the bottle is a smaller size.

IMG_7452

The polish also ended up being quite shifty! It is primarily a bright red-toned copper (almost but not quite pink or peach), which fades into bright orange-copper and then golden-green. I’ve certainly seen shiftier polishes, but this one isn’t bad at all! You can definitely see the multichrome-ness.

IMG_6231

I just added some stamps because I can’t leave my nails plain. I didn’t know if this would look better with gold or black, so I defaulted to black. Not bad!

IMG_7487

If you want to pick up 212 for yourself, head over to the Born Pretty Store! The polish is currently on sale for $4.99. Don’t forget to use my 15% off code, LY5X31!

Shifting Stained Glass

I feel like every time I want to use a lot of multichrome polishes I always think the end result will be prettier than it is. Don’t get me wrong, I find this mani quite pretty…just not as pretty as it could be if the colors shifted EVEN MORE.

IMG_7546

As it stands, I looks like I used 8-10 colors per nail when I only used 5. But it is hard to tell within one nail where each color is because they shift! But I wanted to play with them anyway so here we are. This happens every time I get a new multichrome :-p

IMG_7555

I have a separate post coming up that highlights the base polish here, so I’m not going to focus on it. Basically, I love shifty polishes and I didn’t have a golden copper yet.

IMG_7554

Its so hard to convince myself not to go buy more shifters! They are so pretty! But they are almost impossible to wear to the hospital (the polish is downright distracting), and since there are now SO MANY COLORS by SO MANY BRANDS I don’t even know which ones look the same or different anymore! No one owns them all (that would be crazy) so I can’t get a side-by-side 😦

Anyway, I hope you enjoyed! Maybe next time I’ll remember to stick to one or two shifty polishes, not a whole boatload 😀
