Neon Rainbow Webs

My birthday is tomorrow! Which means that this is the official RAINBOW WEEK! I have had a tradition for the past few years of painting my nails with crazy awesome rainbows on my birthday, because rainbows are just the best. This week will show three of my rainbow nails in honor of my birthday 🙂 including my birthday nails that I actually wore last year (because heaven forbid I actually edit nails in time to post them within a week of painting them).

Colors:
~ White: Sinful Colors – Snow me White
~ Black: Sinful Colors – Black on Black
~ Pink: Revlon – Bubbly
~ Orange: Zoya – Thandie
~ Yellow: OPI – Never a Dulles Moment
~ Green: Zoya – Tilda
~ Blue: Zoya – Yummy
~ Purple: Zoya – Malia
~ Gold: Zoya – Ziv
~ Gold holo: FUN Lacquer – Million Dollar Dream
~ Stamp: Nicole Diary – 156

Today’s manicure was approached with the thought: what would Claire Estelle do? She has stopped posting, but back in the day she had the BEST rainbow neons, glitters, and random bits of color. I browsed her IG for a bit (not that I don’t already have most of her posts favorited, because again, rainbows) and settled on this idea! It took some effort but wow was it ever glittery! I started with a pinwheel stamping rainbow (basically going clockwise around from pink through to purple) and gradiented a different orientation of that same pinwheel on each nail. The end result was a somewhat random looking array of rainbow colors. I then added the black stamp, the gold through the line at the middle (both a simple glittery gold and then a chunky gold holo on top), and finally some black dots with gold centers. Voila! Hope you enjoyed…and stay tuned for more rainbows!!!

Pastel Rainbow Mirage

This was actually the base for another nail art, but it looked so pretty that I felt the need to take some photos of it by itself! It also allows me to show off Pale Landscape by Emily de Molly, which is the excellent white glitter polish (the base is, for once, crystal clear). Its like snow!

Colors:
~ White: Sinful Colors – Snow me White
~ Pink: Zoya – Sandy
~ Yellow: Revlon – Electric
~ Teal: Emily de Molly – Glee Ridden
~ Purple: Nails Inc – Regents Place
~ White glitter: Emily de Molly – Pale Landscape

Of course, when I realized what I had done to my nails matched my rainbow scale detail brush, I had to take a picture with it. You cannot see the full rainbow range, but I promise they matched! Hope you enjoyed todays pastel rainbow 😀

Queen Charlotte Regal Garb

This was another manicure designed after some of the outrageously beautiful dresses in season 1 of the show Bridgerton. This one is modeled after the epic red and blue gown worn by the actress playing Queen Charlotte. I tried to capture the shiftiness of the blue using a multichrome but it only somewhat worked. Regardless, I like the end result! The inspiration is dramatic!

Much like Monday’s post, I decided to post this now since season 2 was just released, and I will be starting to watch it this week because I am behind. I hope the gowns are just as beautiful! And of course, the queens hairstyles just as magnificent.

Colors:
~ Red metallic: OPI – Cute Little Vixen
~ Blue multichrome: ILNP – Birefringence
~ Gold: Salon Perfect – Gold Leaf
~ Silver: Revlon – Metallic
~ Stamp: BC – 06

The whole design for this manicure is freehand, other than the background gold embroidery pattern on the red section; I hand-added the flowers in silver though! Unfortunately, although the very fine gold pattern is true to what gold embroidery looks like, you almost cannot make it out against the metallic burgundy of the base. Oh well, it was still fun to wear! Hope you enjoyed 🙂

Pink Jewish Stars

I also painted these for Hannukah, so they had to be both jewish and weird! And as a result I am also using them for passover :-p. I don’t know how I ended up with this color combination, and honestly I wish I had used a white stamping base not a silver one, but the end result was kinda cool! I don’t think I had noticed before that this particular stamp contained a jewish star, but now I have a hunch that at least once a year I will be doing a similar design to this but with different color combinations.

Colors:
~ Light blue: Zoya – Rocky
~ Blue: Zoya – Ling
~ Dark blue: Zoya – Sia
~ Blurple: Zoya – Danielle
~ Silver: A England – Excalibur
~ Pink: Revlon – Bubbly
~ Stamp: EdM 17

Anyway, hope you enjoyed! And sorry for only two posts this week, I just got back from Greece and jet lag is real. As is me playing catch-up on Facebook and IG and posting all the blog posts from the past two weeks to my other sites since I definitely did not do that while I was on vacation!

Blue Descending Dots

This was intended as a hannukah manicure last month, but I forgot to add anything that made it holiday-specific, so it just ended up being blue, white, and silver! Still cute. And decidedly VERY blue. I haven’t made a dotticure of this variety in well over a year. I forgot how easy and satisfying they are!

Colors:
~ Dark blue: Zoya – Sia
~ Blue: Zoya – Ling
~ Light blue: Zoya – Yummy
~ White: Sinful Colors – Snow me White
~ Silver: Revlon – Metallic

And this is the end of blue week. Hopefully you guys were not too bored, stay tuned for a bit more variety next week (although I think they are mostly stamps? I am out of really pretty themed manicures after the holidays). Hope you enjoyed!

Hanukiah

Technically a menorah is a hanukiah specifically made for Haunkkah, and these candle holders on my nails have 14 candles so whoops! Anyway. I wanted to do something with striping tape that was evocative of Hanukkah without being quite as in-your-face as painting menorahs (again). So I settled on a candle-like striping tape gradient of silver to blue, and then aded some jewish stars. So much for not in your face!

Colors:
~ Blue: ILNP – Downpour
~ Silver: Revlon – Metallic

In terms of colors this was very easy! For a two color mani it does look great if I say so myself :-p Anyway, happy Hanukkah and enjoy all the fried foods you can stomach for the next few days! Hope you all enjoyed.

Rocky Desert Sunset

This was inspired by @nails4cocktails who as it turns out was inspired by @snh001. Yes, I went down an inspiration rabbit hole (and i am not ashamed!). At some point I will try to aim more for snh001’s original idea and do blue mountains, but I need to get more liquid latex first, I am out and this would be near-impossible to do with tape!

Colors:
~ Purple: Formula X – Ignition
~ Hot pink: Zoya – Kelsey
~ Pink: L’oreal – Orange You Jealous
~ Orange: KBShimmer – Papaya Don’t Preach
~ Yellow: Revlon – Electric
~ White: Sinful Colors – Snow me White
~ Black: Sinful Colors – Black on Black
~ Stamps: Nicole Diary – 122, BM – XL204

This concludes the 31 day challenge of 2021, with honor nails you love. I participated in almost half of the challenges (14 out of 31) continuing with my M-W-F posting schedule. I am pretty darn proud of myself altogether, and will likely make a collage (if I have time) of the posts that I’ve made. Hope you enjoyed!

Dark Orchids

It is rare that a manicure comes out exactly as expected. This one managed to and I could not be more pleased! I love orchids, and I figured if I can’t match the bright purple/white/yellow ones in my living room to the base of my nail color, then improvise!

Colors:
~ Pale grey/purple: ILNP – Long Walks
~ Dark purple: Sinful Colors – Muse
~ Purple glitter: Zoya – Rea
~ Pastel purple: Ethereal – Little Oysters
~ Yellow: Revlon – Electric
~ Black: Sinful Colors – Black on Black
~ Stamps: BP – L067

I was initially upset that I made the underside of the orchid a shimmery metallic purple, but in the sunlight and when it caught the light it looked stunning. The odd muted grey tones somehow all worked! Anyways, I hope you all enjoyed!

Red, Blue, and Silver Divided

This is almost identical to a design I made for christmas maybe 4 years ago, only instead of green/red/gold this time I did red/silver/blue! It felt nice pulling out a textured polish for the first time in a while, and I was surprised at how well behaved the metallics were even when I had to play with them to get them to cover all the little fiddly corners.

Colors:
~ Red metallic: Zoya – Isla
~ Blue metallic: Zoya – Tart
~ Silver textured: OPI – Its Frosty Outside
~ Silver metallic: Nails Inc – South Kensington
~ Silver shimmer: Revlon – Metallic

Anyway, the fourth is this weekend, so I figured I needed to be at least a little patriotic! I have my other 4th-themed manicure going up on Monday, but this one is both easier and more directly obvious. Hope you enjoyed, and have fun with any fireworks or BBQs if you live in the US!

Rainbow Glitter Curtain

These nails are the BEST so I just needed to finish off the week with them! Omg. I wanted to make a rainbow reveal manicure but I also didn’t want to spend literal hours hand-painting every line of this particular stamp…so I came up with a great idea! I started with a somewhat pastel rainbow gradient on my nails. Then I painted the stamping decals (rainbow swirl center, white on the outside, and holo glitter topcoat on the lines) and stamped it straight onto my nails. The end result is super cool looking, if I do say so myself! I love the smooth background rainbow gradient, the bright vibrancy of the colors in the central swirls, and the holo glitter 😀 That said, I apparently need another blue creme (I only have like 9 of them, obviously that isn’t enough) because I used a shimmer for the blue color and it barely came through at all in the gradient!

Colors:
~ White: Sinful Colors – Snow me White
~ Black: Sinful Colors – Black on Black
~ Holo top coat: China Glaze – Fairy Dust
~ Pink: Revlon – Bubbly
~ Orange: Formula X – Incandescent
~ Yellow: OPI – Never a Dulles Moment
~ Green: OPI – Did It On ‘Em
~ Teal: Zoya – Wednesday
~ Blue: KBShimmer – Id’ Rather Be with Blue
~ Periwinkle: Nails Inc – Regents Place
~ Purple: Zoya – Malia
~ Stamp: Moyra – 45 I Fill You

This ends out rainbow week! Hope you all enjoyed. And are prepared to see all three designs in my end-of-year roundup of favorite nail art posts :-p Happy friday!

Curling Flowers

I have really been on a simple dot-flower design kick recently. I think this is my 4th in a month (no, I did not post them all in a row, you guys would get sick of me!). This is not my favorite of the bunch but I do quite like it; the pinks go remarkably well with the orange-pink shimmer in the base polish! That said there are actually 3 shades of pink in those flowers, and you really cannot tell! The two darker pinks blended into each other too well.

Colors:
~ Green shimmer: Great Lakes Lacquer – O R’lyeh?
~ White: Sinful Colors – Snow me White
~ Light pink: Born Pretty – Warm Tea Cherry Blossoms
~ Pink: Revlon – Bubbly
~ Hot pink: Born Pretty – Warm Tea Crimson Cheeks
~ Stamp: Floral BPX – L018

I think I am about to run out of flower manicures, so it is back to weird shapes and randomness for the summer! And some beach/sand manicures that I have been saving up. Anyway, hope you enjoyed!

Wine-Dark Sea

A friend asked if I could make a red-based ocean manicure, and this is one of the two looks I came up with! I do love a challenge 😀 I named it after the way the ocean is always described in old greek literature as “wine dark”. I never really understood what that meant (and to be honest, I still don’t), but the red-to-dark-teal thing does look pretty! I started with a red creme base, then stamped in white. I then layered 1-4 coats of a teal jelly polish before adding silver dots and calling it done. It ended up remarkably elegant!

Colors:
~ Red: OPI – All I Want for Christmas (is OPI)
~ White: Sinful Colors – Snow me White
~ Teal jelly: Zoya – Frida
~ Silver: Revlon – Metallic
~ Stamp: BPX geometry – L020

Luckily for me, this fits with the challenge released by Whats Up Nails to create a Pond Mani (basically a jelly sandwich), so I figured I would post it now! It ended up looking really elegant and surprisingly simple, especially given that there are so darn many layers of polish (mostly teal jelly). Anyway, I hope you enjoyed! And if you read this far…what do YOU think about the phrase ‘wine dark sea’?

Purple-Pink Mermaid

I was looking back at manicures I had done years ago, and ran into this design with gold and teal mermaid scales. I figured I could do better now, and also that teal scales are overdone. I grabbed my most ridiculous purple holographic polish, matched it with some pink, and went to town! I figured the gold was a bit over-the-top so I just decided to outline all the scales in pink…and then do an array of 3 shades of purple to fill them in. It took a while, but I do love the result! Of course, even my busiest purple was not enough, so I gradiented on a bright pink glitter to my nail tips.

Colors:
~ Purple holo: Dreamland – You Look Like Seafood
~ Hot pink glitter: Zoya – Alegra
~ Light pink: Revlon – Bubbly
~ Light purple: Essie – Full Steam Ahead
~ Purple: L’oreal – Royalty Reinvented
~ Lilac – Zoya – Malia

If I am being entirely honest, despite all the extra steps, I am not sure I like it better than the original that did in 2013! The lines and curves are neater, but honestly the 2013 one was a bit more minimalist, and I think its still quite pretty. My picture-taking and nail-shaping skills have certainly improved though!

Blocking Pink Blooms

You guys I have no idea where I was going with this. I wanted to make a green gradient, so I did. Then I wanted to add some geometric black lines, so I did. I decided that wasn’t good enough, so I decided to add some complicated flowers, so I did. This is the end result. The black lines did not come out as dark as I wanted so I went over quite a few of them myself (which is why they are a bit irregular) but it also allowed me to make some go on top of and others underneath the flowers! The end result is very strange, but for some reason my husband loved it?

The base beneath all this nonsense is a new-to-me neon green polish called Race Against Slime by KBShimmer. It is a very nice very bright green! This is two coats. It was slightly thick (as one expects from a neon) and dried down semi-matte, so it will need a shiny top coat. Overall though, decent application and excellent saturation!

Colors:
~ Neon green: KBShimmer – Race Against Slime
~ Pastel green: Maybelline – Green with Envy
~ Green: Zoya – Shawn
~ Dark green: Sinful Colors – Last Chance
~ Black: Sinful Colors – Black on Black
~ Light pink: Revlon – Bubbly
~ Dark pink: Zoya – Kelsey
~ Stamps: Nicole Diary – L21

All the flowers are from a stamping plate that I THINK I have shown before, but on the off chance that I have not, here is the link. Lots of leaves and flowers and it picks up quite nicely! Anyway, I hope you enjoyed this neon pink/green confusion of a manicure! And happy inauguration day 😀 😀

Poinsettia

Unfortunately neither this design nor my photos came out exactly how I wanted. I was aiming to make poinsettia leaves/flowers and I think I achieved my goal, but you can hardly tell! Also all my non-sunlight photos you cannot see the design at all due to how closely it matches the red of the background. So you only get one photo today (it wasn’t worth the effort for me to edit any others if they just looked red). Anyway, I started with a red base and dry-sponged on splotches of other red shades including a glitter. Then I stamped with a darker red. So for very little result this actually took a bit of time.

Colors:
~ Bright red: Zoya – Sooki
~ Brick red: KBShimmer – Chai-huahua
~ Red glitter: Zoya – Aphrodite
~ Red: Revlon – Valentine
~ Dark red: OPI – Visions of Love
~ Stamp: Born Pretty – Texture L002

That’s all I have for today. Fridays post will be better and much more visible, I promise! Maybe I will retry poinsettia flowers this yea brut actually make them visible. We shall see!

Bright Pink Slices

Why? I don’t know. Vacation was starting, I like bright colors, and whenever I use Pending Perfection I have an unavoidable need to pair it with pink. Blame the shimmer! Sadly, the pink gradient I made out of the middle portion of my nail hardly shows up (yes, there is both a light pink and a dark pink), but at least the glitter came through!

Colors:
~ Teal shimmer: Emily de Molly – Pending Perfection
~ Pink: Revlon – Bubbly
~ Dark pink: Zoya – Kelsey
~ Holo topper: China Glaze – Fairy Dust

Hopefully I will be able to get some more fall-appropriate nails lined up for next week. We shall see. Hope you enjoyed!

Bronze Dotted Grates

I don’t know where I was going with this one. I used a magnetic polish as a base, but sadly it did not magnetize well (do magnetic polishes have a shelf life? I should look into this). I ended up just converting it to a weird dot+stamp thing. I tried to gradient the dots, and it somewhat worked? In real life you can see that the dots go up and autumn gradient, but in images it did not come through, I do wish I had used creme polishes not metallics, the gradient would have shown up better.

~ Dark gold: Catrice – Genius in the Bottle
~ Copper: Zoya – Penny
~ Bronze: Pure Ice – Magic
~ Red: Zoya – Isla
~ Black: Sinful Colors – Black on Black
~ Stamp: MoYou – Pro 02

Regardless, this starts my month of fall-ish manicures (aka things in shades of copper and orange) so enjoy!

Summer Sky

This is simple but I really love it! Hot air balloons and birds 🙂 I figure if I am stuck in the absolutely frigid hospital I should at least be able to enjoy the warmth on my nails! The birds, clouds, and hot air balloons are all stamps, so this was also pretty easy as far as nail art goes :-p

Just looking at these nails makes me feel calm. Which, to be fair, is nice right now since at the moment I am on a 24 hour shift in the hospital (again…). Anyway, summer! Enjoy :-p

Star Spangled Swirl

Ok, so this was a fun one. I made a drip marble out of red, white, blue, and silver, and then added star stamping! The silver had separated a bit in the bottle and also made a few cells (!!!). I finally, as of last month, own a bottle of white cell polish, but somehow I haven’t gotten around to using it yet! Bad Eva. Of course, these are what I wore last year (as well as the design you will see on Friday) so maybe I will actually get my act together and use real white cell-making polish this year!

Hope you enjoyed! I am not proud of what America has become at the moment on multiple fronts (response to the pandemic, response to racism, response to people just being asked to show courtesy and wear a mask…to name a few) but I am glad that we are no longer under British rule, so 4th of July it is! Also, fireworks.

Perfectly Pinked

Ok, I really like this one. I don’t know how the colors work together or why this design caught my eye, but here we are! Honestly I think a real gold rather than a rose gold would have gone better with all the pinks…but you can hardly tell. Girly and glittery to the rescue!

Really the moral of this manicure is if you add enough glitter and colorful distraction, everything looks good. Again, this manicure should not work. I like it anyway :-D. Hope you enjoyed, and happy Friday!
