Sorry this post is going up late, I didn’t bring my laptop on my vacation last week so I only got around to editing this today! Oops 😀
That said, this really is not my best work! I had a decent idea of what I wanted going in, but I was impatient and the whole thing fell apart a bit. The design was created using stickers from the Born Pretty Store that I was sent to review. They work well, but there was a bit of a learning curve! Also I need a holo top coat. Trying to use this odd flakie one I have is just sad.
~ Light purple: Essie – Full Steam Ahead
~ Purple: L’oreal – Paparazzi Pleaser
~ Shimmer: Sally Hansen – Diamond
If you want to pick up these particular stickers (or any of the rest in the set, and there are a LOT of designs), you can find them at the Born Pretty Store on sale for $1.99. Enjoy!
The way this ended up, it looks like a super dark lapis lazuli stone! If I was really going to lapis I would have needed to use a gold-based glitter rather than a silver one, but I still like it. Unfortunately, the mani did end up quite dark. I suppose I could have placed the marble over white rather than blue, but it needed to match a specific dress!
To create this, I marbled polish on water, waited around 2 hours for it to dry completely, and then removed it. I then cut out decals from the dried polish, which is a first for me! I’ve been wanting to try this method of making water marble designs (lifting the marble once dry) for a while but never had the time to plan and execute it.
~ Blue: Sally Hansen – Blue my Mind
~ Dark blue: Zoya – Ibiza
~ Blue with silver: KBShimmer – Sapphire
Sadly, most of the photos I have of this design are out of focus, so there are only three pictures! Also, in retrospect, I have no idea how Sapphire marbled so well given its glitter content, but go KBShimmer!
This is the companion piece to my Day 11 nails (dots) from the 31 Day Challenge. However, these have minimal polka dots and maximal stamping, so I didn’t think they’d qualify!
Since I had to wear this mani to the clinic, I needed to make sure my hands were close enough to matching that no one would notice on first glance. Of course, if I was really thinking, I probably would NOT have chosen a neon pink background if that was my goal…
Regardless, I stamped some fun concentric circles (which were part of a buffet-style plate so I had to carefully clean off the surrounding patterns) and then added some extra dots. The result was a little boring, so I threw on some glitter polish in random parts of the stamp as well!
~ Pink: Essie – Sunday Funday
~ White: Sinful Colors – Snow me White
~ Glitter: Sally Hansen – Diamonds
~ Stamp: BM – S101
That is it for today! Hope you enjoyed, even if it was a little redundant. Next week starts my fall-themed designs in ernest, so I needed to finish showing neon colors!
Unlike every other day this week, where I’ve used other colors besides the assigned prompt color, today is just for purple. All the purple. Happy Day 6!
This might look a bit familiar, as I’ve done this exact design previously in blue but I wanted to do it again! I initially wanted to do it in green (or RAINBOW) but I settled on purple so I could wear it in the clinic.
The original design was done by Mary Monkett, since she is the master of combining gradients with very precise striping tape.
~ Light purple: Sally Hansen – Lacey Lilac
~ Purple: Zoya – Malia
~ Dark purple: Sephora X – Ignition
That’s all for today! I go back to cheating again tomorrow (aka using more than the assigned color). So, enjoy!
It is a huge struggle for me to come up with a mani I like (and want to paint) for day 3 of the 31 Day Challenge, since I hate the color yellow! But even I have to admit that these nails are cute.
The design was inspired by Girlteen-vip (who is now feminamodeon, which was a pain to track down!) but anyway, the link is here.
Although the original artist had partially nude nails, my previous mani (which I haven’t posted yet, of course the 31 Day Challenge makes me go out of order) stained my nails bright pink, so no nudes for me! I figured a pastel blue-to-yellow gradient worked just as well 🙂
~ White: Sinful Colors – Snow me White
~ Black: Sinful Colors – Black on Black
~ Blue: Zoya – Blu
~ Yellow: WOW – #301
~ Shimmer: Sally Hansen – Platinum
~ Bee stamp: BM – 301
I am grateful for the one singular stamp on here though…that little bee is from a bundle monster plate! I can’t really imaging having to freehand tiny iridescent wings. That’s it for today! Cute little bees. Check back tomorrow for Day 4, which is in my opinion truly epic 😀
This might be the worst mani I’ve done in recent history. Like, total epic and utter fail. I am embarrassed to post this but let it stand as a lesson: Do Not Pair Nude and Awkward Golds!!!!
I couldn’t even bear to wear this particular mani for 24 hours they were soo terrible. Ugh. Once I had done one hand with the pale gold/silvery polish I hated it so much I covered the other hand with a more yellow-toned gold. It too looked awful (although to me maybe sightly less terrible).
Mistakes I made here: trying (again) to use metallic polish over tape. It never comes off correctly. Trying to use a soft gold color over a pink-based nude (a rose gold would have worked, or a yellow-based nude).
~ Nude: L’oreal – Boho Babe
~ Gold: Sally Hansen – Liquid Gold
~ Yellow gold: Revlon – Hypnotize
~ Black: Wet n’ Wild – Black Creme
Turns out the art I was trying to replicate by Marine Loves Polish was done with nail tattoos Go figure. Win some, lose some! On a good note, the 31 Day Challenge begins on Friday! Stay tuned for some of my recent BEST work 😀
