I spent a long time trying to figure out how to use this plate, which was sent to me for review from the Born Pretty Store. Fire-colored gradient with black stamping? Gradient stamping? I tried doing yellow and orange and red…but they didn’t pop against black! So I had the brilliant idea of layering them over GOLD. Because that just sounded like fun.
I ended up using a gold glitter rather than a metallic, so the fire looks a little more granular. I think if I were to do this again, I’d try it with a metallic and see what happens! I do like this quite a bit though.
In the end, each nail got stamped 4 times: twice in gold with the two overlaid designs, once with a yellow-orange blotted mix, and finally with a purple-red mix. Surprisingly, this didn’t take that long! Mostly because the plate was so well-etched that transferring the designs was a piece of cake. Even the solid body of the bird on my thumb!

~ Gold: Sally Hansen – Go for Gold
~ Yellow: WOW – #301
~ Orange: ULTA – Sun of a Gun
~ Red: Pure Ice – Siren
~ Purple: Zoya – Margo
~ Dark purple: Zoya – Monica
~ Stamp: BP – X012 (Exoticism)
That’s it for today…awesome fire! I’ve honestly had my eyes on this stamp forever because I love flames but I HATE hand-painting them! And this stamp has SO MANY FLAMES. You can pick it up for yourself at the Born Pretty Store on sale for $1.99. Don’t forget to use my 15% off coded, LY5X31!
Don’t ask me about the title. I thought that as lovely as the base is, it looks like a swamp. And then I got stuck into thinking about Shrek and now “I’m a Believer” is stuck in my head on repeat.
Anyway. This is one of the A England polishes that I picked up a few months ago during the color4nails sale (because I couldn’t resist) and it is LOVELY. Now, at least part of that is because I simply love this type of murky green-brown, but a lot of it has to do with the polish itself! (Actually, I have a post that I’m working on that compares the three green-brown polishes I own. Yes, I own three of them. Because this color is magnificent).
Shown here is two thin coats of Fotheringhay Castle by A England. I almost could have gotten away with one! Adina’s version of this particular color is a deep murky green-gold with scattered fine holo shimmer. The holo is less noticeable than most other A England holos, but the finish is stunning and you can certainly see the shimmer! I’m quite happy with this 😀
~ Green: A England – Fotheringhay Castle
~ Gold shimmer: Sally Hansen – Go for Gold
~ Gold metallic: Essie – Good as Gold
~ Black: Sinful Colors – Black on Black
~ Light pink: ULTA – Babydoll
~ Pink: Essie – Eternal Optimist
I ended up triple stamping with two Bundle Monster plates: once with a gold shimmer that ended up very faint because the plate was not etched well, once with gold metallic swirls, and then over that using black polish and the same swirls. It came out pretty well for all that stamping madness!
Hope you enjoyed!
Finally, a post suitable for spring! I usually go towards either dark saturated colors, or very pale nude colors (for the hospital). This mani is just dark enough that I didn’t know if I’d be able to wear it in the hospital, but not so dark that I felt transgressive wearing it on the weekends! Especially with those rhinestones. However, I was safe! No one even noticed :-p
The art was inspired by @lifeisbetterpolished, because I would never think of something with hand-outlined flowers. For good reason as it turns out…I am never hand-outlining flowers again. That took forever! The results were really satisfying, however.
Painting these onto my right hand was incredibly challenging, but worked out ok as well! I really enjoyed wearing this mani, despite the lack of bold colors 🙂

Thus ends my week of awesome manis! Back to regular things next week…a mix of good and meh. But no more required classes and ridiculous exams for me! Happy Friday!
Short post today, because I forgot to write this over the weekend and I need to head into the hospital for work!
This was inspired by Pet Nails although I cannot seem to find her blog anywhere! Googling “pet nails nail art” is a sure-file way to get pictures of people’s dog’s painted toenails!
My nails are not so varied as hers nor are my lines quite as thin…I almost wish that I had looked at her image while I was painting mine! Mine are fine, but her’s are better and I could have done them exactly. Whoops!
~ Pink: Revlon – Bubbly
~ Orange: Wet n’ Wild – Sunny Side Up
~ Yellow: Maybelline – Citrus Collide

That’s all. Hope you had a great Thanksgiving (if you live in the US)!
This is a complicated mani. In my head this was basically “is there ANYTHING else I can do that I like better than the elegant dark purple baroque nails” so I did a full-on skittle mani!
Basically, I wanted to try and figure out if I liked any of these better. I was going to hold a vote before the wedding but I (clearly) ran out of time! I didn’t prefer any of these over my favorite that I posted last Monday, so I went with that one.
Oddly, I usually like things more BEFORE I top coat them…although top coat makes things smooth, it also makes them less distinct. That is true here as well, except on my pointer! I like the dark purple stamp much better when it really fades into the top of the nail. Go figure!
My ring finger stands apart as the only nail with any type of glitter on it. I used a base of Lacy Lilac by Sally Hansen (as I did for all 5 nails), and added Lavender by Nabi, Hi-Res by Milani, Vallis Sanguine by Gothic Gala Lacquers, and Valerie by Zoya in between the stripes going up my nail. I really like how it came out, but I didn’t think it was elegant enough for a wedding mani! Also…I dreaded the idea of adding 10+ bits of striping tape to EVERY SINGLE NAIL. Kill me now.
The other 3 fingers have a gradient of French White by Wet n’ Wild, Lacy Lilac by Sally Hansen, Ignition by Sephora X, and Monica by Zoya. Once that was dry, I added various stamps! Ring finger has BM-315 with Monica, middle has BM-616 with French White, and my pinky has BC-10 with White Opaque (which looks somewhat silvery).
Although I could get behind my pinky, I actually think my middle finger is my favorite combo of colorful + elegant. One last wedding-related purple mani tomorrow, and then we are done with wedding!
I’ve been wanting to do lightning nails for years, and kept thinking I had done it before…but I haven’t! So, have some lightning :-D. It might not be supernatural but it looks darn magical so I’m just going to go with it.
I will actually sit in the window during a lightning or thunder storm, just to watch the jagged flashes of light. Lightning is awesome. Scary, but awesome. On my nails it is distinctly less scary, but really still awesome!
These particular ones were inspired by Celinas_Ryden, although I added more teal and more purple than she did! These also took longer than I expected, but realistically less time than they could have!

Hope you have a dazzling day! Or something equally pun-y :-p. With this, we have almost reached the end of the 31 Day Challenge. Woah. Also, it is apparently my 4th anniversary of blogging! Which actually kinda insane if I stop to think about it! Happy blogaversary to me I suppose!
So, I know this is more of a movie than a song, but it was actually the song I had playing when trying to decide what to do for the “song” prompt for the 31 day challenge!
I went ahead any grabbed the closest thing I have to “For Audrey” from China Glaze, which happens to be I Need A Refresh-Mint by Wet n’ Wild. Every time I use this teal, I am reminded why I never use this teal. The brush is too fat, mine has messed up bristles, and the polish NEVER DRIES. Like, NEVER. I need to get For Audrey.
Regardless of my polish woes, this didn’t come out too badly! The color combo is pretty, and it is certainly song-inspired.

Hope you enjoyed! My surgical shelf exam is tomorrow and I am freaking out, so this post (and tomorrow’s) are very short!
