Brightly Stripped

Neon colors are the BEST when I don’t have any interviews! This was inspired by a pinterest pin, but I couldn’t find the original nail artist so you’ll just have to trust me that this is a bit more neon and less pastel, but otherwise close :-p

Two brightly colored manis in one week? Yes please! This the focus of this mani is the stripes I figured it fit well for today. It was painted last Fall (which tells you guys how long I’ve been saving some of these manis).

IMG_4790

At some point I need to create a folder of ‘colors that work well together that you’d never guess but should absolutely combine’ because without the inspiration for this mani, I would never have thrown coral with neon green and teal! But it works ūüôā

I also just thought I should share, I am for some reason playing “this is halloween” on repeat on my computer and it is making me very happy :-). Hope you enjoyed!

Peek-a-Rainbow

Rainbow nails! Finally! This is kinda a combo of day 9 “rainbow” and day 10 “gradient” cause it is a rainbow gradient! I haven’t been brave enough to wear rainbows to the hospital yet; these are from the vault.

IMG_2719

I absolutely love this mani. Bright colors, strips, gradients…it has it all! That said, the post going up on Wednesday for stripes day has even MORE stripes. Or at least, they are the focus of the nail art itself.

IMG_9274

I always find myself gravitating towards sparkly polish with shimmer and flakes and holo‚Ķand then I¬†have¬†to remind myself that if I’m being honest I use my brightly¬†colored creme polishes a LOT more frequently than any of my crazy glitters! Because they really are better for nail art.

IMG_9247

That said, I have yet to buy an appropriate neon green creme, so the subtle shimmer in this mani is from the neon green polish! It was a gift, but I really need a creme variety. If you guys have any advice for bright neon green cremes let me know!

That’s it for today! I’m really enjoying stalking Facebook, IG, and the linkup for everyone else’s manicures! The other Eva, in particular, is – as usual – blowing everything out of the water ūüėÄ

Rose Gold Rows

This is a super complicated mani, but I kinda love it. I was sent some very tiny rose gold caviar beads to review from the Born Pretty Store, and I went to town with them!

IMG_3259

Most of my caviar beads are what I would consider standard size‚Ķwhich is easily twice the size of these ones. Look at how many pretty rows are on my middle finger! I ended up mix-and-matching with a fishtail, some other studs, and basic diagonals. I had seen a similar mani online, but I didn’t want to use a black base so I settled on a very dark blue with subtle gold shimmer ūüôā

Colors:
~ Dark blue: Zoya – Blake
~ Rose gold metallic: Essie – Penny Talk
~ Rose gold glitter: ILNP – Juliette

IMG_3260

I have never really tried to place a bunch of studs and then surround them with caviar beads, mostly because my other caviar beads are larger, and the whole thing takes forever. That said, I did my middle finger first (well, I did the polish-only nails first, but it was the first nails with 3D elements) and since that only took 10 minutes, I went ahead and did the others with lots of tiny beads too. Success!

IMG_9729

If you want to pick up these tiny beads for yourself, head over to the Born Pretty Store, where you can find them for $1.79. I kinda love them, and can’t wait to figure out ways to use them now!

Flag Nails

Happy 4th of July! I am on call overnight tonight, which is incredibly unfortunate, because I love fireworks! Maybe if I’m lucky I can sneak off to the tall tower in the hospital and watch the fireworks from there.

IMG_6631

Anyway, these nails are actually from LAST 4th of July,¬†because¬†I didn’t get them edited in time. I do, in fact, have flags on my nails right now, but you shall see them next year! Also, this means that you get to see some freehand today, rather than more stamping (which, lets be honest, will be back on Friday). Today is also the first time I’ll be wearing really visible nail art to the hospital‚Ķso we will see what happens. Hopefully everyone either ignores it or is cool with it!

IMG_8965

The design here was inspired by badgirlnails because she does wonderful skittlettes. And also because I really never use some of my crazy holographic glitters.

Anyway, hope you enjoy the fireworks (if you are in the US), and if not then I hope it isn’t too hot out wherever you are!

Tangled Heart

Yet another two new things post! I am very excited that I have so much new nail polish, but it is also getting tiring swatching things as a focus rather than primarily doing nail art. I don’t know how those nail polish swatch bloggers do it!

IMG_1765

Anyway, this is a shiny new polish from the OPI holiday collection, and was hands down my favorite OPI that I received (luckily, I even got a fully sized bottle rather than a mini!). The polish is called Feel the Chemis-tree, despite being a purple and in no way tree-like. OPI tends to have pun-y names, but this one misses the mark :-p. Anyway Chemis-tree covered well in two thin coats (I almost could have done one), and has a purple base with pink shimmer that shifts to gold. It is really quite beautiful!

IMG_6571

On top of my purple base I did some layered stamping, and some simple stamps. The stamping images come from a plate sent to me to review from the Born Pretty Store, which I think was intended to be Valentine’s-themed but is mostly lots of flowers, cool lines, and hearts. But the best part? It is made¬†to¬†be layered! I have been waiting to get my hands on an intentionally layered stamping plate and this one does not disappoint.

IMG_6626

I tested a few of the fine detailed lines from the flowers on this plate, and they all worked perfectly. Then I decided that I didn’t want to use flowers‚Ķand instead went with the heart with the small line made to go over it, and some larger lines. My sister thought I¬†had used stamping tape (which with this design would have taken HOURS), I was so pleased!

Colors:
~ Purple shimmer: OPI – Feel the Chemis-tree
~ Gold: Essie – Good as Gold
~ Purple creme: Zoya – Monica
~ Stamp: Valentines Day BP – L002

If you want to pick up the plate for yourself, it is $2.99 over at the Born Pretty Store. Hope you enjoyed!

I Olive Gold

This was a simple but quite fun mani to put together! I forgot how much I like skittlettes ūüôā

IMG_1758

The art was inspired by @gabbysnailart, and I like how close I came! I do need to admit that I used a stamp for the heart and then colored it in before putting it on my nail…I still cannot paint hearts to save my life!

IMG_1701

The golden polish is new, the gold sister to that crazy holographic silver I used during the 31 Day Challenge. This one is called Million Dollar Dream by F.U.N. Lacquer, and it is awesome! Still a pain in the butt to remove, but it looks so darn pretty on that I am willing to overlook that. This is three coats of Million Dollar Dream. It looks super patchy on the first coat but builds really nicely. I used it as a dabbed on gradient on my thumb, although I don’t like how that nail turned out overall, this polish does gradient nicely as well.

IMG_1753

I this is the last “Fall” themed mani for while, since I have a bit of a back-log of nail art to post that is not in colors of red-orange-green-gold!

~ White: Sinful Colors – Snow me White
~ Olive: Cult Nails – In a Trance
~ Stamps: BM – 317, EdM – 03

Neon Peaking Through

The problem with the prompt for Day 12, stripes, is that although I use a lot of striping tape, I seldom make stripes! I figured that criss-crosses were ok too :-p

IMG_6628

This nail art was¬†inspired by melyne nail art. Melyne used nail vinyl’s rather than striping tape, which both made her application easier and provided her with thicker stripes! Some day I need to invest in nail vinyls :-p although I do also like the way mine came out.

IMG_8937

I think this is arguably the fourth day in the row with neon polishes. I don’t generally use neons that much, but I guess I was hit with the summer neon bug! To me this is funny because last summer and the year before every brand released a lot of neon polishes, which I did not see happen this year. So of course I’ve jumped on the bandwagon years late :-p

Colors:
~ Neon orange: Julep – Natasha
~ Silver holo: Color Club – Harp On It
~ Black: Sinful Colors – Black on Black
~ Black holo: Zoya – Storm

IMG_6623

No more neon tomorrow! I guess I could have tried for neon animal print, but I doubt I would have liked the result :-p
