Unsurprisingly, I painted these back at the beginning of spring, when it was still exciting to put flowers on my nails. Oh well! They are still cute, and came out oddly colorful 🙂
These came about because I just wanted something fun a floral! I was going to use striping tape to make the lines, but the base took 4 coats (which reminds me of why I NEVER USE this polish, ugh) so I couldn’t use striping tape because my nails never dried. So, freehanded stripes! Pain in the butt…but not half bad. More of the story is that I have almost mastered straight lines? I think only one of these is my right hand, but I actually managed all these lines on BOTH hands.
The only reason I find that amusing is that I recently discovered I switch off hands when doing a physical exam in the hospital…which the rest of my team was super impressed by! I’ve always been somewhat ambidextrous, but I think its only gotten stronger since I started painting my nails way back at the beginning of my PhD!

~ Light pink: Wet n’ Wild – Tickled Pink
~ Pink: Revlon – Bubbly
~ Green: Zoya – Tilda
~ Black: Sinful Colors – Black on Black
~ Stamp: BC – 06
Ok, that went very off topic. Suffice to say, these ended up colorful, cute, and a bit strange! And Cala Lilly is a terrible polish that I should get rid of before I try to use it again and spend 2 hours waiting for my base color to dry.
This was a mani I did over the first week of Christmas break, with nothing but holiday-themed glitter polishes. This was a PAIN IN THE BUTT to clean up (since I had used tape…I had not thought to bring liquid latex as a barrier), but it came out quite nice! The addition of white makes it not-too-much-glitter, methinks.
I need to remember in the future to bring more creme polishes when I travel. If my sister is going to be around I tend to just bring a rainbow, but I was on my own for this part of the trip so I just grabbed some suitable “holiday” polishes. Which apparently means ALL THE FOIL GLITTERs. Never again!

Hilariously, it looks like I accidentally took all the Zoya Ornate collection polishes that I own with me on this trip! I ended up with Ziv and Blaze…I do also own Storm but it didn’t quite make the Christmas cut, so it was left behind. But, that is ridiculously coincidental! Ironically, I also brought my super glittery green Zoya polish which I was convinced was Logan…but I don’t own Logan, I decided to buy Ivanka as well three years ago, and somehow forgot! Clearly, I need to use green glitters more :-p
Hope you enjoyed all the glitter! I would say happy Wednesday, but today starts at 7am (although luckily it is warm enough for me to bike to the hospital rather than the 40 minute walk in the morning), so less-than-happy Wednesday!
It has been a trend with me recently that I want to buy one polish from a certain brand, but I feel silly ordered just one…so I get the one I wanted and one that I pick at the last minute. And end up loving more than the one I initially thought I wanted! This is the…third? Fourth? time that it has happened to me in in a few months.
Regardless, Shadow on the Moon is stunning. Truly stunning. This is a medium-gray polish filled with coarse holo glitter, small circular holo glitter, and saturated with pink shimmer. I love it! Shown here is two easy coats with top coat. As I mentioned, I almost didn’t buy this polish but I am sooo glad I did…it is subtle and elegant but hopelessly complex. It is absolutely going to make my top 10 polishes of 2017.
I also didn’t want to cover too much of this color, so I decided to just go with stripes. Every time I turn to striping tape I think “oh, this will be easy and pretty” and each time I end with “WHY DID I THINK I’D BE DONE IN LESS THAN 3 HOURS OMFG”. So, there’s that. Also, don’t use pastel almost-jellies over dark colors…it will take 3 passes to cover the underlying color and your nails will be bumpy!

~ Light pink: ULTA – Baby Doll
It is hard to tell, but those lighter color stripes are a pale pink! I was trying to match the pink shimmer in the grey polish…but I should have gone a shade or two darker. Oh well. Still looks cool.
Hope you enjoyed!
Somewhat wintry? I painted these a while ago, but they are all I had time to edit up for today!
These are basically a skittle-ette (since the ring finger and thumb match) and are almost not nail art since they are so simple! That being said, I still love the ridiculous holo craziness of Microcosm, so I’m not going to complain.
In the sun, these nails just went nuts. It was also fun to play with the textured finger (until all the rhinestones started falling off…at which point I had to change the whole mani).

This is a complicated mani. In my head this was basically “is there ANYTHING else I can do that I like better than the elegant dark purple baroque nails” so I did a full-on skittle mani!
Basically, I wanted to try and figure out if I liked any of these better. I was going to hold a vote before the wedding but I (clearly) ran out of time! I didn’t prefer any of these over my favorite that I posted last Monday, so I went with that one.
Oddly, I usually like things more BEFORE I top coat them…although top coat makes things smooth, it also makes them less distinct. That is true here as well, except on my pointer! I like the dark purple stamp much better when it really fades into the top of the nail. Go figure!
My ring finger stands apart as the only nail with any type of glitter on it. I used a base of Lacy Lilac by Sally Hansen (as I did for all 5 nails), and added Lavender by Nabi, Hi-Res by Milani, Vallis Sanguine by Gothic Gala Lacquers, and Valerie by Zoya in between the stripes going up my nail. I really like how it came out, but I didn’t think it was elegant enough for a wedding mani! Also…I dreaded the idea of adding 10+ bits of striping tape to EVERY SINGLE NAIL. Kill me now.
The other 3 fingers have a gradient of French White by Wet n’ Wild, Lacy Lilac by Sally Hansen, Ignition by Sephora X, and Monica by Zoya. Once that was dry, I added various stamps! Ring finger has BM-315 with Monica, middle has BM-616 with French White, and my pinky has BC-10 with White Opaque (which looks somewhat silvery).
Although I could get behind my pinky, I actually think my middle finger is my favorite combo of colorful + elegant. One last wedding-related purple mani tomorrow, and then we are done with wedding!
Thus begins my somewhat Halloween-themed mani time! This one was actually painted months ago, but I think the colors lend themselves well to this season 😀
This is a skittlette! I don’t do them very often, but a mani by badgirlnails caught my eye, and I knew I needed to make my own version! Maybe I should do them more frequently…getting to do three color-coordinated designs was actually quite fun!
I do wish I hadn’t put the smattering of gold glitter beneath the flower on my accent nails, but I didn’t know that ahead of time. I thought simply coloring in a bit of the flower wouldn’t be glittery enough! Silly me.
