Neutral Bubbles on Teal

I wanted to make a mix of neutral colored bubbles, but I couldn’t decide what color to put them over! For some reason I decided a pale teal would do the trick, and here we are. In retrospect I wish I had gone with black (or one of my neutral creme polishes that I didn’t use for the bubbles) but too late! The end result is honestly rather weird, but this took hours (coloring in all the bubbles) so I am posting it anyway!

Moral of the story: If you are going to spend a very long time doing reverse stamping, make sure you have a PLAN or all your hard work is going to end up looking rather half-assed!

Fancy Teal Tips

Yet ANOTHER fun manicure with a bright weird base color and a design from the UrbanNailArt collab plate. I am seriously glad I bought it! Sadly, the silver I used on my tips is a tad overwhelming, but you can still see the cool semi-foil below 🙂

IMG_9352

The base here is three thin coats of Near and Far by Emily de Molly. This is a “pastel” multichrome, and honestly it is lighter in shade than most of my multichromes but I would not call this color pastel! I will need to do a comparison with the other similar multichromes I own just to see how much lighter it really is. Regardless, it is a very pretty and very shifty color! I captured the bright teal flash, as well as shifts to blue, indigo, and purple.

IMG_5217

I honestly especially love how this polish looks in the sunlight, you get an eyeful of the purple flash. Many multichromes have a fun sun feature, but this one really wowed me! Anyway, hope you enjoyed!

Dotted Weave

I have NO idea why I decided on this design, and this actually looks really weird (weaved pattern with dots? muscle cells with blue nuclei? who knows!) but it was fun to make.

IMG_5143

The base polish is another new Polished for Days concoction called Fireflies; this is the polish that first caught my eye almost a year ago and drew me to PfD. Fireflies needs three thin coats for coverage….but that just assures that you can see every ounce of the insane glittery madness within. It is a teal polish base with pink/red shimmer that shifts to gold and occasionally green, as well as holo, and large and small flakie shards that shift pink-gold-green. I could almost get away with wearing this without nail art, it is that busy!

IMG_9239

For whatever reason, I have lately been shying away from super-over-the-top-glittery polishes; I have been going back to neutrals/greys with a bit of shimmer or single type of glitter, or creme polishes. I had to grab this polish anyway and I am glad I did! However, I got 4 other glitter polishes at the same time, and I have not felt drawn to use any of them! Silly past Eva. Hope you enjoyed!

Childish Twirls

This is a very simple manicure, but shimmery and shifty! Just what we needed after two straight weeks of boring nude lace themed nails. Of course, when I painted these my nails were an awful rounded shape, but you can’t win everything :-p

I don’t quite know why I reach for really complicated multichromes or glitter mixes when I don’t have anything in particular in mind, but it ends up looking pretty! I just need to make sure my creme polishes also get love sometimes 😀 Hope you enjoyed!

Awkward Swirls

You guys, I think I just completely forgot to write down what I did with this manicure. I have no records of having painted it at all…but there are photos and a title attached! So I am going to have to guess at what I did. I am pretty sure I started with a blue base, painted a shimmery flakie polish over that, and then for some very odd reason stamped in a pale teal? That is the weirdest part, why would I stamp in teal?! Awkward indeed.

IMG_7608

Colors (my best guess):
~ Blue: Zoya – Ling
~ Shimmer: KBShimmer – Sandy
~ Teal: I have no idea, I own three similar teals, sorry!
~ Stamp: Moyra – 3 Ornaments 50

IMG_2249

I really hope there aren’t a bunch more manicures floating around that don’t have descriptions somewhere in my completed folder! I will accept one, but not more! Hope the awkward of the teal stamping didn’t turn you off this manicure!

Cosmic Triangles

This was fun. I started with a blue base, and I couldn’t figure out what to do with it. Then I decided plain blue was boring, and I needed more color…so I did a dry sideways gradient (I just made that up…I basically dry-brushed from the side of one nail with one color and the other side with a different color, focusing more color around the edge of the nail) with teal and purple, to create a teal-blue-purple sideways gradient. You can barely see the teal, but it is pretty anyway!

Honestly the end result looks kinda multichrome-y. Without shifting my nails at all I get blue, purple, and hints of teal. I like it! Hope you all enjoyed, and happy Friday!

Dots on Vacation

These nails were painted on vacation! Which is why they are so darn simple (and also why I didn’t write down the names of the polish I used…they were the tiny sample sized ones that I have, oops). I love traveling with my dotting tools because they make things easy and pretty at the same time! But yah, these manicures-on-the-go took a grand total of 30 minutes, and most of that was waiting for the base polish to dry before I added dots.

IMG_6429

Of course, my nails can never match exactly, so I tried two different dotting styles. I like the cuticle dots on teal better than the smattered circle dots! What are your thoughts?

IMG_6425

Hope you enjoyed! This week is likely to be a mash of odd posts since I am on vacation and am looking to clean out my weird old stash of posts!

Teal and Purple to Swirl

I did a simple dry-swipe to make the background pattern, and stamped over it. The colors are maybe too similar, but I overall like the mix of sharp angles and flowing swirls! Next time I will stay away from similarly toned colors! Of course the stamp also happens to be one of my overall favorites so it would be hard not to personally like this manicure regardless!

I think the next few weeks are going to be a mix of winter (blue, grey, icy) and quasi-christmas (red, gold, green). I don’t yet have anything set up for Wednesday so let’s see what ends up next!

Elaborately Twirled

These nails somehow ended up looking like sumptuous velvet. I decided I wanted to mix two shades with different types of glitter, and somehow ended up here! Juliette has shards of rose gold with little holo glitters, and St George is a beautifully pigmented (and ergo good for stamping) scattered holo that typically just looks like it has faint glittery depths. The combination: surprisingly stunning.

IMG_1020

IMG_5811

I, yet again, don’t have much else to say! I do love how A England seems to consistently create one-coat beautiful polishes that also work very well for stamping; however they don’t have all that many colors (lets be honest there are only so many pigmented red scattered holos that even a girl like me can own) so I have run out of reasons to buy more! Hope you enjoyed!

Resist in Teal

I really think these look like resistor bands! Of course the colors are all wrong, but I don’t care either way :-D. They are also wonderfully lines and therefor works for Geometry day in the 31 Day Challenge.

IMG_2463

The design was inspired by Marine Loves Polish. I even used the same colors for the most part because A England is the best at opaque polishes!

Dots and Roses on Teal

This caused me soooo many headaches. You can’t tell, but I repainted my pinky 4 times. I started with it teal (because I wasn’t paying attention and I usually start with all my nails the same color). I dinged that, so I painted over it in white. That took 20 minutes to dry so I seriously dinged it and removed the whole mess. Then I just painted it white…and while finishing my other hand accidentally hit the drying white polish against TAPE so it was all over. I finally cleaned it fully (instead of just wiping off the polish), added base coat and painted it white, carefully. And then moved very very slowly for about 20 minutes until it was dry.

IMG_7579

Other than my pinky, this was not a very difficulty manicure! The lines are a stamp, and everything else, while freehanded, was pretty easy. The hardest part was keeping the dots straight on my ring finger and thumb. I do wish I had made the roses larger on my middle finger, but I was having fun with tiny roses! And I am proud of my ring finger. The roses almost look respectable 😀

The design is lifted directly from Paulina’s Passions. It turns out this is from 2014, which tells you a bit about how long it was sitting in my untried ideas! Yikes

I realize that Monday’s post was also a bunch of circles and dots, but this one had MORE dots, so I am posting it for Dot Day! Hope you enjoyed!

Green Glaciers

This was a multi-step process. I wanted to make glaciers because I was traveling to Iceland. So, I decided to start with a greyed shimmery base…but used Memory Palace which is really a teal. I put away my grey gradient, and grabbed a teal gradient instead to make the glaciers. The end result was rather cool…but very teal-green. I asked my husband what I should add and he goes “northern lights”. Now, the northern lights are usually teal/green, and obviously that wouldn’t work, so I coarse-sponged on a tiny purple/red/yellow gradient. That looked surprisingly cool (thanks husband!) but it needed more oomph…so I added some rainbow flakies using Festival. Voila!

IMG_1602

I did end up using one of the new items from the Born Pretty Store to make the mountains (the darkest green thin line). I wasn’t sure these would stamp because the lines are so darn thin, but it worked just fine! The plate has a whole bunch of awesome mountain/waterfall/water full nail images that I used in a different mani that you’ll see soon.

So thats today, Green Day in the 31 Day Challenge! And also glaciers to honor my trip to Iceland (which btw is beautiful). Hope you enjoyed!

Wild Ripples

Super straightforward but still pretty! Mostly because putting awesome teal flakies over slightly darker teal-blue polish is a recipe for nail happiness 🙂

IMG_1929

Unfortunately I broke a nail prior to painting these, so my free edge is curved. I briefly thought about cutting my nails shorter but flat…but to cut them flat would have been to make them VERY short and I didn’t relish that thought! So, here we are.

Bright Teal and Dark Roses

This was fun, and almost-but-not-quite perfect! Regardless of the imprecations (entirely my fault with color selection) I enjoyed wearing this! I also don’t know why I don’t actually have more floral manicures to post. What have I been painting if not flower?!

IMG_2158

The design was inspired by @ponkle. In retrospect I wish I had used a brighter pink for the base of the roses! This ended up looking almost neon-with-goth because of the dark roses. I love it anyway. Of course, I also cheated. The dots are freehand and everything else is stamping 🙂

Flowers Trailing Dots

This was a brushstroke marble, and it only kind of worked. I used different wet polishes gently brushed over each other to make a sideways pattern, and then transferred it with a stamper. The pattern looked cool on my mat, but when it transferred it got blurry! This was a class example of an over-engineered design. I wish I had just stamped without adding glitter. Oops!

Of course, the sun also did not want to cooperate with me during the days I wore this manicure, so unfortunately all you get are indoor photos! I swear the flowers were glittery…they were just leo smushed. To make up for this poor showing, on friday you get neon rainbows! Ok? Ok.

Falling Rosy Leaves

Well, this is absolutely a fall manicure…that I am posting in the summer! Oops. I need to put the rest of my nail art (basically everything since Feburary or so) on my computer and I just haven’t gotten around to it yet! Hopefully the importing of more seasonally-appropriate nail art will happen tomorrow, but I didn’t want to leave you all without ANY designs today!

IMG_2310

This was a very straight forward manicure, but it uses one of my favorite polishes (I do feel like I say this about every third mani…) so I like it regardless of its simplicity! It was also a fun color combo, deep murky red-blue and rose gold.

Sea Storm

My birthday is the end of this week! It is also the first day of my end-of-intern-year-break. It is going to be amazing to actually be doing my speciality after the end of this month. Regardless, I decided to celebrate by posting a week of some of my more favorite recent manicures! Starting with this one.

IMG_1971

In addition to looking like fancy lightening, this mani showcases a fantastic base color! What you see here are three thin coats of Narrow Sea by Illyrian from lat years March PPP. Yes, I wore these almost a year a go and never posted them. I was saving them for something special, because omg I love this color. I honestly could have gotten away with two coats of the polish, but I wanted more shimmer! My only complaint, and it is a tiny one, is that the polish is a bit thicker than I expected, but leveled well regardless.

IMG_7490

To get the nail art I dabbed on some white and covered it with a dark grey-green and grey-purple to make the clouds and surf, and freehanded some lightning strikes! I wanted them to glow, so I added some shimmery polish. I am so happy with how this came out!

That’s it for today. Stay tuned for more of my favorite manis on Wednesday and Friday. Hope you enjoyed!

Rough Squovals

This mani was kinda fun? I don’t love it but it was playful at least! I more or less just grabbed a polish that I hadn’t used in a while (I do love my glitter bombs but they are a pain in the butt to remove, so lets be hones, I do not wear them often) and stamped over it! The whole manicure took maybe 40 minutes and 30 of those minutes were waiting for Rough Sketch to dry.

IMG_3840

I find myself reaching for MoYou plates when my nails are particularly short, because I bought the “normal” plates and not the “XL” plates. I turns out normal means itsy bitsy nails. I can’t wear these stamps when my fingernails are even close to my preferred length! I do love the designs on this plate, but honestly that is just poor planning from MoYou’s part! Anyway, hope you enjoyed!

Pointy Pink Angles

Another pink over teal mani! But this one is ALL SHINY. I kinda wish I had used a creme base honestly, but somehow the silver is metallic, the pink is metallic, and the teal has pink metallic shimmer. This was really quite shiny!

IMG_5092

I’m pretty sure this is double stamped with the same gradient, which is why some of the lines aren’t exactly these same thickness? Or maybe the stamp just looks like that. I am far too lazy to check!

Not much going on here other than stamps, but at least it’s colorful! Hope you enjoyed.

Embracing Blurple

This came out better than I expected! It is very hard to see the teal metallic stamping polish, but the colors go nicely and I have missed geometrics 🙂

IMG_4665

When I start a manicure I generally have an idea in mind ahead of time. With this one, I just went “i want to use that one sparkly blurple with teal flakie polish” and tried to find coordinating colors. Don’t ask me why coloring in some of the thinnest lines on one of my stamping plates was deemed a good idea, but the result is pretty cool!

IMG_1809

I need to remember to buy more flakie polishes, they have wonderful color shifts and finishes but are not difficult to remove. Also they tend to have enough going on in them that even if you paint quickly enough to cause bubbles (because rushes are a real thing) you can’t see them!
