After last week, when I posted the magnetic lace art, I realized that I had never posted my new magnetic polishes all on their own! So here is one of the two (since you guys have seen the other one already)!
The two polishes I bought are both by Masura, because they seem to be both colored AND gold, as opposed to most of the other magnetic polishes that I have seen (which tend to run to a single color, or that color and black). The Masura’s also seemed to have more distinction between the magneted part and the base color. And glitter within them! Basically, I was intrigued.
This is two coats of Emerald Cat by Masura. The polish goes on a bright metallic green, but when the magnet is applied the whole look changes! The metallic bright green is dragged toward the magnet and turns almost golden-green, while the revealed polish is a dark forest emerald with copious glitter in it. Basically, it’s beautiful.
Once the design was on, I realized it sort of looked like a swirled forest, so I grabbed a spirally vine stamp and did a green-gold-green gradient and tried to overlay the vines on the brighter green-gold part of the base. It totally worked! I think back on when I had to use regular stampers (as opposed to the ubiquitous clear ones) and shudder.

That’s it for today! I am glad to be done with both the holiday season (which lets be honest, goes through Valentine’s day) and my boring interview nails! The rest of this week, and the foreseeable future, are a random mix of fun nails!
I really like how this mani came out, but it took forever to plan! I knew I wanted something with white, grey, and pink…and trying to figure out what to use for the stamp vs the background took forever. I think I used all 5 nail demos on my silicone mat! Worth it 😀
The stamping plate I used here was sent for review from the Born Pretty Store, but it is full of fun leaves and flowers…both of which are a pain to free-hand. So, I am really glad this plate works as well as it does! It’ll be VERY useful come fall. The geometric pattern is from an Emily de Molly plate though.
You also cannot tell, but I actually used both a white and a silver to stamp, just to see how the variation looked! It’s most noticeable in the non-sunlight photos.

~ Silver: A England – Excalibur
~ White: Sinful Colors – Snow me White
~ Light pink: ULTA – Baby Doll
~ Pink: Wet n’ Wild – Tickled Pink

If you want the floral stamping plate, head over to the Born Pretty store, it is currently on sale for $2.99! Don’t forget to use my code, LY5X31…although I don’t think it can be applied to things already on sale, sorry!
It’s a Monday, which means more nail art! This particular post has it’s origin in a rather weird place: my name.
I decided that, since Zoya makes the best creme polishes, it was about time that I buy the polish closest to my name which happens to be Evvie. Apparently there used to be a polish named Eva (!!!) but it has been discontinued so I won’t ever own the polish that is ACTUALLY my name. But this is close!
Shown here is two thin coats of Evvie a darkened teal-grey. It is not a color I would ever choose normally, because I tend to go for jewel toned dark colors, not greyed-out dark colors! That being said, this polish ended up being really elegant and somewhat subtle. I like it!
The art was inspired by La Paillette Frondeuse. However, once I was done free-handing the vines and flowers on my left hand, I decided I didn’t want to spend all that time replicating it on my Cinderella hand…so I tried to stamp instead! The colors came out a bit different (because stamping) but I actually like it better! Unfortunately, I didn’t decide that until after I had removed the mani so I don’t have as many photos of my right hand as I would like.

Anyway, I hope you enjoyed! It’s probably odd that I bought a polish just because it has a name similar to one of my nicknames, but still. It’s fun!
So, following the theme of purple-and-white manis that were potential wedding manicures, we have the third runner-up! The base color is almost exactly the same shade as the bridesmaid’s dresses (and also the flowers), and I like the love theme!
Unfortunately, I think this looks a little juvenile. Maybe if I used creme polishes and not a holo base or something I’d like it a tad better, but I don’t have a creme burgandy-purple! I do like the tiny dark purple dots I added though :-p
My baby sister aka maid of honor wanted me to replicate these on her nails…despite never having seen them! She grabbed the same purple holo out of my extensive collection and then found this stamping plate and wanted it. Sadly, we ran out of time so she just ended up with purple nails, but it is amazing how similar we think!

Next week is a few more wedding-ish manis. Enjoy!
I’m alive! Sorry for the 1-week posting delay…I only had one nail art design pre-edited before the wedding and I didn’t get a chance to work on any others during the wedding weekend or last week. Sorry!
Back in September I spent WEEKS painting my nails various shades of purple looking for what I wanted to wear to my wedding. I ended up with 10 different test designs…and I ended up picking #9, which is here!
The actual nails I did for my wedding looked a tiny bit different…I left off the little leaves on the swirls and I made the light purple V-shapes deeper (my nails were also a bit longer). Overall, I think they looked quite good! Not subtle (since purple nails really can’t be subtle) but not super in-your-face. One of my friends even took a photo of my nails with the bouquet that I’ll post with the actual nails in the near future!
Putting these together was also a bit weird! These were made in a way that was initially counter-intuitive to me…I started with the dark purple base! Then the light purple (striping tape to delineate) then the stamp (I blocked off the dark purple area with liquid latex). So, easy, but odd! It does work better than my old method though, for some reason.

So that’s it, the mock-up of my wedding nails! The rest of this week and most of next week will be more purple nails, the ones that I chose not to go with. The only one I have actually already posted was tested back in JULY because I am nuts…and went into the galaxy post for the 31 Day Challenge.
So, unlike the past four days (which were all painted within a week of each other), these nails were only done three weeks ago! Sometimes I accidentally cut my nails too short when I am trying to trim them. I figure these mostly count as tiny nails!
The idea here was to do a waterfall mani a-la-Nailasaurus only even my short nails are too long to make that look appear good! So I added a second waterfall layer and purposefully made some of my lines squiggly…so now we have vines.
Someday, I do want to try a proper waterfall mani. Sammy makes them look so good! Maybe I should try using my dominant hand to paint them though, I don’t know how good I’ll be at straight thin lines with my left hand.

Phew! So many colors! Hope you enjoyed! Next week we are back to our regularly scheduled medium-length-nails nail art.
It’s almost halloween! And I’m cutting it close here…I just took these off last night so the art (and subsequently this post) is being composed at midnight. Oops!
I saw these awesome jack o’lanterns by nailsbyjacky, and I just had to try them myself! That being said, I changed the eye designs! I just like her smiles :-). And yes, the design is intentionally face-up (ha!) starting at my nail beds…I thought it made more sense to have the bottom of the smiles be curved. Its been a while since I’ve gotten to paint anything right-side-up!
I started with an orange base, and sponged on (using the saran wrap method) a lighter orange and a neon orange for some texture. After adding top coat (just in case I messed up the next step) I then painted on the faces. I cleaned up with acetone (and added back some orange where I messed up) and voila!

My truly creepy mani (aka awesome and totally fit for halloween) is up tomorrow! Stay tuned 🙂 and then I have some fall-appropriate manicures for next week!
