Creative musings in bright colors

This post started out as a GREAT idea…another rainbow gradient with water marble! The last one didn’t go as well as I had hoped, so I wanted to try again. This one still didn’t work. Maybe I should give up on this theme?

The gradient came out fine, if not quite as saturated as I would like. Most of the polish here is one of the colors from the Nabi Holographic collection, over the silver from the same line. Some Darling Divas and a Gothic Gala thrown in for fun.

I tried to water marble with black, light grey (my white polish is sadly too thick to marble at this point), and clear…and yah. Oops! The grey is too translucent and the clear didn’t spread as well as I would have hoped.

Maybe, someday, this will work. If I work up the courage to try it a third time. Meh!

Well, I think it is fabulous. I would love to see this on my nails. You see a failure (because you were striving for something else) – I see a brand-new exciting water marble look! I am serious – I have not seen anything like this in marbling. I am crazy over how the gradient was made more pastel-ly and how it sparkles and glimmers under and through the marbling! And love that marbling – kind of a very fancy, very beautiful distressed marble.

  2. I actually love this. A good mistake.

  3. I really love how this looks! So soft and pretty like a water color. It may not have come out like what you were picturing in your head, but i wouldn’t call it a fail. Maybe you could call it an accidental win 🙂

  4. I think this looks lovely! The colors look awesome and I love how the black polish isn’t overwhelming. Great job! (:

  5. I love it. Very unique an gorgeous way to wear multiple colors. I should try marbling again soon; it would be a great way to get through some untrieds!

  6. Are you kidding? This is great!

  7. I think the background looks stone-like and the curves from the marbling look like “arabesques!” I agree that this mani is unusually beautiful. Great work!

  8. You mentioned having just one holo polish so I noticed at CVS they have a sale on Sally Hansen polishes: buy 2 get $5. off. I’m not sure if it is on all of the line’s polishes but I noticed in the Extreme Wear group @ $3.69 there is a holo # 106 and in another line (I think of different colored quite large dots but not “huge”) there is a # 604 (#504?) but that one, I think, is $8.99. The size glitter in the $3.69 one is not large but if it just reflects colors in the undercoat, it may do the same job.
